📚✨ Step into “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦” by 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬

Manini Gallery at Hawai’i Theatre invites you to experience The Reading Room, a unique installation by Multi Projects (@multi__projects)—a collaborative endeavor by artists Kera Rasavanh (@kerarasa), Ayaka Takao (@ayaka.takao.studio), and Caleb Sugai (@puddlesplashers18). Since 2023, Multi Projects has been connecting Honolulu’s art scene through DIY art fairs, exhibitions, workshops, and community interventions.

This installation is more than an exhibition—it’s an offering. At The Reading Room, you’ll find a curated selection of foundational texts, handmade zines, and philosophy books shared by the Multi Projects community. It’s a space to pause, reflect, and explore narratives often eclipsed by the fast-paced, capitalist world around us. What does it mean to sit with a book, uninterrupted? To read alone or together? To simply exist in the material world?

we will start off the class with a workshop in the beginning (think nerikomi, colored clay, and surface decoration) then use all of our new + foundational skills to focus on a personal project! 🪴🪴

🪡Mindful mending is back! 🧵
We all have that ONE shirt or pair of pants; those garments with those little wears and tears we've been meaning to mend but never seem to have the time for. In this workshop, we will learn a few creative ways to mend our pre-loved clothing. As we mend, we will discuss the importance of sustainability and slowness in fashion (and our everyday lives!). Start your year right; lets get mending!

Learn the art of the dish in this fun + casual ceramic workshop! Students will create a clay dish in their own unique style. We will use various tools and stamps to embellish our pieces, as well as adding strokes of underglaze for a pop of color. Dishes can be used for coasters, wall art, trinket holders, and everything else in between.

ayaka will be hosting "parallel studio" every last tuesday of the month*, which will be a fun time for studio members to convene and work on their own projects together. this will also be an opportunity to take advantage of ayaka's
"office hours" to pick their brain and ask ceramic & art questions you may have: think of this as a time for playful consultation. bringing snacks, bevs, and materials you want to share with the community is strongly encouraged.
