Books I’ve read lately📚

1. Circe by Madeline Miller:
Circe, the witch of Aiaia, proved that what makes you different can also be your greatest gift.

2. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller:
The Trojan War told from the perspective of Patroclus "my favorite".

3. Take It Back by Kia Abdullah: This book left me angry, sad, and frustrated.
Crime isn’t always black and white, as many presume.

The root of a problem can be so tangled that it takes time and effort to see beyond the surface.

4. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Finally read it.
Truly, you can love someone deeply and still choose yourself.

P.S. Financial stability makes it so much easier to leave an abusive relationship.

 Drop your recommendations.

As a public health professional, straddling epidemiology & health communication, my goal is simple; It's to move information from situation reports into community behaviour change. Let's make sure the 2026 Lassa curve bends downward, for everyone.

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee Is about four generations of Korean families, set during colonial era "Japan colonization of Korea" and post colonization (1910-1989).

It explores the suffering, abuse, marginalization and discrimination they (Korean generally) faced and how they fought against all odds to make it out of poverty.

Fun Fact: It took the author MinJin Lee 28 years to develop the novel, Pachinko, due to the intense research required. by @ayandaidris

A classic and phenomenal read!

Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi is about intergenerational trauma that slavery, war and segregation had on the Gold Coast (Modern day Ghana) family, shipped to America through the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. It also depicted post-slavery experience for African Americans. by @ayandaidris
