I just got my masters degree in Human Rights and Democratization 🤩 I am so proud and humbled by this experience. I did my thesis on the right to self-determination: comparison between the Kurdish experience to the Jewish one. Throughout this year, I have learned a lot about the world and about myself. Today, I believe in myself more than ever, and I know that I can do anything I put my mind and energy into. The people I met here are exceptional and the love and support I got from them, I will appreciate forever. Aaaand, I am wearing Kurdish clothes 😍😭

I can’t believe 5 years past on this already. These pictures are from an assessment I was doing for Yazidi women in Iraq after ISIS. I was able to identify the gaps in the services provided to women. I was able to support more than 90 preganant women who were living in tents in IDPs camp; among them were those who were pregnant from ISIS. It was the most difficult project I had in my entire career. The experience of working to support this women totally changed my life. It made me suffer, but also learn how to deal with one of most complicated problems in the world back then. My project did not only provided health support to women but also helped them reconnect with themselves and their families after ISIS crimes against them. I still remember that woman who told me that I helped her change her life. I smiled and told her that she changed mine too. #Iraq2015 #activism by @ayaz.kado

What does freedom mean to you, Ayaz? ✨

In “Thoughts on Freedom,” freedom isn’t an abstract concept: it’s a personal answer from people who shape Berlin.

Today is #Newroz.

This day is connected to identity, freedom, and all human rights in Kurdish people’s minds. It is the time we all come together and celebrate each other, ourselves, and our history.
Since I moved outside Kurdistan, it has never been the same. I miss having those feelings among my friends, family, neighbors, strangers, and even the Arab neighbors who celebrated with us.
I remember last year, on this day I was in Bilbao- Spain, doing my masters research. It was on The Kurds’ journey to self determination right in comparison with the Jews’ one. Today, I remembered how angry and sad I was reading more of Kurdish history and what happened to Kurds throughout history because of who they are and what is still happening till today.
All crimes, genocides, assassinations, and mass graves will remain immortal in us because history repeats itself; especially when you forget it.
Today, I promised myself to always remember that Kurds are indigenous and deserve equal rights to other nations in the region. I promised myself to remember all kurdish revolutions since 1500 and before till today in Rojava- Syria and Rojhalat- Iran, to remember all brave women, men, and others who lost their lives to defend their identity, to defend our identity.
Newroz means New day in Kurdish. Today, we come together, dance, cook, laugh, remember, and stay resilient.
Till next Newroz, I wish everyone a very happy one and hopefully next Newroz will be in Kurdistan. by @ayaz.kado

I have been sick for around a week. It is Corona. This time it hit really hard, but that’s not the point of this post. While trying to learn this reels thing to post about my 2022. I went through my gallery, and without even realizing, I started crying. I realized how lucky I am to be having this life. Everything I did, everyone I met, every moment I captured with my camera had so much memories that are dear to my heart. All cities and countries I‘ve been too just in one year, my masters, my friends, my family, and I could go on and on. This is all a blessing that I am so thankful for. I figured that I need so many reels to capture everything. In other words, I realized that my life is so rich, that it even shocked me.

Since I graduated, I didn’t stop for a minute not even for Christmas. I continued pushing through by working more, trying to find a place in Berlin, applying for German citizenship, Phd program, driving license, gym, cosmetics, a partner, etc. But today and maybe thanks to Corona’s pain, I realized a very important thing. I realized that I need to stop from time to time. Stop everything. Literally everything; even in my head, and reflect instead. Reflect on what I have done, what I have gained and what I have lost. Think of who I have became and what I want. Today, I feel I no longer want everything. I don’t want to be the best. I just need to embrace my experience with all its tiny details and be thankful for all of it.

Thank you all my family, friends, lovers, haters, and others to be part if my amazing year. See you all around the world 💚
