No exagero.

Estoy muy feliz. taken in Leipzig, Germany by @ayelenmalaquin

“I can see more clearly the map of you”
You say on the phone, late at night.
I just told you a story about a friend of mine.
Little puzzle pieces in your mind.

The roads of my life led me to you.
Right before I was going to leave.
Been building my map, so lost and confused.
Until your eyes whispered: “you are here”.

The first weekend together,
I met you at the door.
As I left my bag on a chair,
You hugged me and said: “welcome home”.

That’s what I’ve been searching for.
Thought it was a place.
Stumbled around rooms and cities,
Feeling fallen from grace.

But as we lay in the morning
Intertwined in entangled sheets.
I can feel my body give in.
Feeling held and free.

Home is where I rest.
Where I lay down my guard.
Home is where I can say:
I’m a mess but I’m alive.

And in the map of me,
Home is where you are. taken in Carquieranne, Provence-Alpes-Cote D'Azur, France by @ayelenmalaquin

It's 8 pm, we are walking down a narrow street at the center of Toulon. The sky is purple, slowly turning dark. All the buildings in our surroundings are dressed in Mediterranean hues, so pigmented they might as well had been painted with high quality watercolors.

I let go of Sascha's hand and stand still. "Baby, do you understand how beautiful our life is?" I ask him. A couple of seconds ago we were again talking about the news, all the impending doom that only comes from a black mirror. He laughs and smiles. "Yes, it is".

This is all I ever dreamed of, I think to myself. And my mom pops into my mind. When we traveled to Europe for my fifteenth birthday she used to stop us mid walk to exclaim: "how beautiful this is! Isn't it? We are so lucky". At least that's how I remember it.

My eyes get watery thinking of her. Realizing how unknowingly I mimic her, bringing her back to us through my wonder. Sascha hugs me and notices a couple of tears running down my cheeks. He holds a little tighter. After a few steps I laugh at yet again another random AI generated billboard -we've been playing a game called "catch the AI slop"- and lightness meets us right there with grief.

This is exactly how life feels now, like the dim lights covering the narrow streets of this French beach town. Soft and nostalgic and sad and happy. Painted in watercolors. With shades that echo all the stories that make up this moment. And a light breeze that mixes with a deep, palpable silence. taken in Toulon, France by @ayelenmalaquin

I spent my birthday month in a beautiful city, with beautiful friends and a beautiful boy.

32 years old. The last two years flew by. This year finds me slowing my velocity enough to actually enjoy where I arrived after what felt like 730 days of going at full speed.

So many things that I once dreamed of are now my reality. For someone who defined herself by what she longed for, meeting myself on the other side has been new, confusing and curious.

What do I want now that I'm living the life I pictured so many times, in so many vision boards?

Who am I when I don't need anymore?

Who am I enjoying what I created so far?

I would lie if I said that I'm not eager to meet the new dreams this life has in store for me. I miss the movement that dreaming brought to my life for so many years.

But as I slow down and take in this life, my life, I feel present, maybe, for the very first time.

And that's the biggest present I received this year. taken in Hamburg, Germany by @ayelenmalaquin

I've always been a big planner. Organized and methodical, I'm often thinking one or two steps ahead with a clear objective in my horizon.

Ironically, I moved to Germany -the land of plans and structure- without one fixed strategy. I knew I wanted to build a life here. But had no idea how.

For that, Berlin was the obvious choice. I knew some people there and, as locals say, is not "the real Germany". A place open for immigrants, welcoming in its unique ways. With its buzzing energy, so similar to Buenos Aires, it became home away from home.

Until...

Hamburg came into my life. In the shape of a partner first. Now, as the opportunity to experience and learn a new way of living, a new culture and rhythm.

I had no plans or interest in getting to know this city as intimately as I have. It feels like it found me and, true to its essence, patiently waited for me to open up to it.

Who would've thought.

You keep procrastinating starting your project because you don't know what's going to happen long term?

Of course you don't. And trying to commit to without starting is like asking someone to marry you without going on even one date.

Date your project. Get to know each other. Commit step by step. #entrepreneurship #creativity #coaching #businessowner #smallbusiness taken in Hamburg, Germany by @ayelenmalaquin

I was biking home and was hit by a wave of gratitude to myself for not quitting. I know everyone's story and possibilities are different, but I'm a firm believer (and proof!) that we are capable of a lot more we give ourselves credit for.

Hope this helps! taken in Berlin, Deutschland by @ayelenmalaquin

Life lately ✨

Spring is ending, summer is starting and things on this side of the world are warmer, greener and lighter.

After almost two years living in Germany, I can say that I'm regaining a sense of stability. I'm not scared anymore, more occupied than preoccupied and knowing that I'm on the right path. It is a long way to permanent residence here but I know I'm taking the necessary steps, one at a time :)

I have been reuniting with my family of friends, feeling increasingly blessed by old and new ones. I have also been spending some good quality time with my love. Soon a full month in Hamburg awaits, a little city test drive for me. Between all of that, a lot of gym because I *finally* got into proper strength training and nutrition. German lessons to get that ✨B1 Zertifikat✨, client work (doing a lot of service design for the IDB) and some student mentoring and coaching clients as well.

Being a freelancer and immigrant has meant constant worry about the next steps. The next thing to figure out. The next problem to solve. But lately I have been able to stop and appreciate this truly amazing life that I have created for myself. Thanks to the help and love of a lot of people. And thanks to my unstoppable, unbreakable and stubborn ass 😂

Special shout-out to anxiety medication! My system was completely depleted and in override. Two years of go go go did a number on me. I'm thankful and glad I have the privilege to look for help. And yeah, is a very personal thing to share on social media, but I want to de-romantize going after your dreams. It's amazing. It's also fucking hard.

Both things are true, because life is interesting in that way. taken in Berlin, Deutschland by @ayelenmalaquin

I have done many things in my life. And I've noticed that both in my path and in my projects, I rarely struggle with knowing what the next step is.

Upon reflection, I realized that it is because of one thing called Experiential Learning.

Being a designer, working in tech, mentoring entrepreneurs. It has all been a training ground to always learn by doing. In my life, I replicate the same mindset.

Try things out, learn, and keep building.

This is what I talk about in this month's newsletter.

I share with you what Experiential Learning is. How it influences the building of products and services. How it has helped me in my life. And what examples from my career and the world you can use to inspire yourself to learn more by experience than by analysis.

These photos are from last weekend. Where a fanzine making workshop I went to reminded me just how easy and simple experiential learning can be. Thanks to @paz.arando and Giuli for organizing it!

The newsletter is now in your inbox. If you're not subscribed, you can do it from the link in my bio.

With love,

Almost twenty months since I left Argentina. It's been hard. It's been intense. It's been wonderful.
