I'm going to be honest with you. For a long time, I thought financial security in marriage meant having a good husband. A good plan. A good "we'll figure it out."

Happiest wives are the most independent!

You can be married and still be completely independent. Most women think those two things can't exist together. They can, and here's how.

#1: Financial stability

This comes first, always. When you have your own money, you're not staying because you have to. You're staying because you want to. Open your own account. Build your own savings. Create your own income stream, even if it starts small. Your own money gives you a voice and a choice, and it gives you peace of mind. Independence starts with your own financial foundation.

#2: A great family and friends circle

Your husband should not be your whole world. Build real connections outside your marriage: your sisters, your mom, your best friends, women who celebrate you and keep you grounded. Check in on them and make time for them. When you have a full circle, you're not looking to one person to fill every gap in your life. You're supported from every direction.

#3: Constant learning
