It was one of the greatest honors to be this sweet boy’s mama for a little while. And while saying goodbye was never going to be easy, knowing Dakota has finally found his forever home makes my heart so happy.

But getting him here was by no means a solo triumph. It literally took a village, and what a beautiful village he had!

To Auntie Amber, thank you for loving this boy so wholeheartedly, for stepping in when I was traveling, and for giving him all the love and care he deserved.
To Sofiya, thank you for all the walks, the love, and keeping chill when our two-dog walks suddenly turned into three when Dakota joined the pack!

And to Terah and Real Good Rescue, I am truly in awe of the work you do. The dedication, compassion, and endless effort that goes into rescuing these beautiful souls, supporting their fosters, and finding them loving forever homes is nothing short of extraordinary. Thank you for being there every step of the way.

And to our neighbors, the neighborhood kids, and every person who stopped to give Dakota a little love along the way, thank you. This boy had a way of making everyone smile, and I think everyone who met him fell a little bit in love.

What makes this story even more special is that Dakota had already spent two years in foster care before coming into my life. Two years plus 8 months with me, waiting for someone to choose him, to give him a place to call his own, a forever.

And now, finally, it’s HIS TURN!! He has a mom and dad, a doggy sibling, a big house with a backyard, his very own doggy door, and everything this sweet boy could have ever hoped for. A family to call his own. A place where he belongs. A home where he never has to wonder what’s next.

I hope somehow Dakota knows just how deeply loved he is. How many hearts he touched, how many hands helped care for him, and how many humans came together to get him exactly where he was meant to be.

And now he gets to spend the rest of his life being somebody’s forever boy

The natural world is not the backdrop to our lives,
It IS life ✨🐋🧜‍♀️

Some experiences are almost impossible to put into words…

Swimming in the waters of Moʻorea alongside these magnificent beings was one of them.

An invitation to go deeper.

Deeper into the water
Deeper into ourselves
Deeper into our connection with one another
And deeper into the remembrance that we are not separate from this wild and beautiful world… we belong to it ✨🐋♾️

There is something incredibly humbling about floating in the vastness of the ocean and watching a whale move beneath you. For a few extraordinary moments, we were invited into their world.

To witness.
To listen.
To respect.
To simply be present.

And for me, this week also marks the beginning of a new chapter.

Finding my people… the ones who want to explore not only the outer world, but the depths within themselves.

Women willing to be curious. To be vulnerable. To step into the unknown. To experience this beautiful life with their hearts wide open.

We went into the deep together.

And I think we all came back a little different✨

Moʻorea, the whales, these women, this ocean…

I will carry this experience with me forever!!

✨ 9|9 ✨

There’s something so beautifully appropriate about my first week here in Mo’orea coming to completion on 9/9… a number of completion, integration, and closing a cycle.

A week with the whales, the ocean, this sacred island, and this beautiful group of women… somehow ending exactly when it’s meant to 🧜‍♀️

Tomorrow, 9/10, a new group arrives and a new cycle begins ♾️

One chapter closing. Another opening. Extremely grateful

I couldn’t have planned the timing any better if I tried… and maybe that’s the magic of it all. 🤍🐋

There is something SO beautiful about watching you embark on a path into the unknown!!

Following the breadcrumbs… trusting the pull, not knowing exactly where it’s all going to lead, but knowing somewhere deep inside that you HAVE to go.

I truly think this is one of the most soul opening experiences we can have in this lifetime.

And watching you do this feels like such a reminder for ALL of us!!

We get ONE life.

To everyone : Don’t hold back. Don’t wait. Don’t overthink it until you’ve convinced yourself not to go!!

I think we spend so much time waiting for the “right time”…
When we have enough money.
Enough certainty.
When everything lines up perfectly.
When we feel completely ready…

But what if the “right time” is just another façade that keeps us in the same place… doing the same things… because it feels safe??

Sometimes you just have to fucking GO!!! ✨✨✨

Follow the breadcrumb.
Take the chance.
Get on the plane!!
Move somewhere you’ve never lived.
Start over.
Say YES when your soul is screaming YES… even while your mind is giving you 100 reasons why you shouldn’t.

You don’t have to know where every breadcrumb leads!!

That’s kind of the whole point
The path unfolds BECAUSE you’re walking it

So my beautiful friend… GO!!!!

Go live this next chapter. Let it crack you open!! Let it surprise you. Let it change you. Meet the people you’re supposed to meet. Get lost. Find yourself somewhere you never expected.

And KEEP following those breadcrumbs…

Because I really believe that sometimes the unknown isn’t where we lose ourselves…

Grateful for another year passed 🫶✨🌞
For all that found me, all that left me, all that changed me, and all that brought me closer to myself.

Softer & Stronger. More certain of what matters, less interested in what doesn’t. More willing to trust the unfolding rather than try to control it✨

I’m grateful for this life. For the people I love. For the people that love me ! For the places that have held me. For every beautiful, messy, unexpected lesson along the way.

And as I step into this next year, I’m not asking to know exactly where it leads.

Just that I remain open to the abundance of life.
Curious.
Wildly alive.
Deeply grateful.
And willing to explore.

Ayla is one of the many incredible volunteers @realgoodrescue - a community of rescuers, fosters, adopters and advocates united by one belief… that every dog deserves a real chance at a real good life!

Fearlessly & tirelessly led by @terahgisolo , we are always so happy when the gang is able to come to the trading post to socialize with their amazing pups in hopes of finding them their forever home.
