LA King was previously released as Fierce King, but it has now been revised and extended for a re-release. I am truly blown away by the updated version that this is. I originally read Fierce King a few years ago when it came out and I liked it but not nearly as much as I did this version. This book had me sucked in so fast it was one of those “I’ll put it down after this” and suddenly I read the whole thing in one sitting😅

This book starts with the arranged marriage of Alejandro Montoya a mafia man nicknamed the King of LA and Alana Carmichael a political “princess” from New York. Immediately this book hooks you in with their backgrounds and personal feelings. You quickly come to see they both have been lied to and are not what each other are expecting. I loved seeing their relationship bloom but also their own personal growth they each had throughout the book.

It ends on the best cliffhanger I’ve read in so long 😩 It wasn’t one of those cliffhangers that make you mad it just leaves you wanting more! I can’t wait to read book 2 😍

TW: CANCER ‼️

Life update 2 & why I’ve been gone from bookstagram the most:

My husband was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in March. He had a baseball sized lump appear on his neck almost overnight and we went in quickly to get it checked. After blood work, scans, and a biopsy the doctors confirmed our fear that he has cancer.

We found out I was pregnant with our second child in January and then had this news come crashing on us in March. Obviously no one expects a cancer diagnosis, and it’s always shocking, but this was truly never something we ever thought would happen.

My husband has 12 rounds (every other week) of chemotherapy & immunotherapy to complete. We just did his fifth round this last week. We are almost halfway through and we seriously cannot wait for it to be over. So far his body seems to be responding well to the treatment.

I wasn’t sure if I’d ever post this on here since it’s so much of my personal life and not book related at all. But this community has been so great and there for all my positives it feels right to share the bad as well. ❤️ by @aylas.reads

Hiiiii bookstagram ✨

I have completely neglected my account since February I haven’t even opened it to read messages or notifications. My real life outside of social media has had so many major changes and updates I haven’t had the mental to keep up with anything. I will make a few posts to catch everyone up and I’ll have a few not book related things to say.

One of my biggest life updates from the last few months:

We are expecting a baby boy this fall 🩵 we are so excited to become a family of four! I can’t wait to see our girl become a big sister and she talks to baby brother every day 🩵

I am so excited to get physical copies of these!! 🥹🥰 This is the first two books in The Playbook Series by @lashaw.author Book 3 Sneak Play just came out in December and I now need to get a physical copy as well lol. I’ve read all 3 in the series on kindle and I love them!! If you’re looking for a good college sports romance series I highly recommend this one 🤩

I had such a fun time at @knottynovels in Sacramento last night 😍

We got to see @laurenblakelybooks & @authordaisyjane chat about Just Breaking The Rules on its release day! 🤩 The chat was seriously so good I’m so happy I got to see them both talk in person.

Lauren’s personality is so fun! So many of her books are laugh out loud and bubbly and that’s such a match to her in person! It was such a blast to get to know her better and her thoughts behind her writing. She gave us so many insights and I loved hearing more of her behind the scenes things.

Daisy Jane was the moderator and her conversational skills are amazing. She was SO engaging and you could tell all of her talking points/questions were so well thought out. I have read her books for years and I was so so excited to get to see her in person 🫶 I am so glad I got to chat with her for a few before she left she was such a genuinely sweet person.

This was my first book event ever and I’m so glad it was these two I can’t wait to do more ✨🫶

Happy NYE ✨

I genuinely can’t believe 2025 is coming to an end! This year went so fast and especially these last two months I feel like flew by.

I can’t believe I read as many books as I did this year 😅 my original goal was to hit 200 books and as we can see I well surpassed that. This year I read so many amazing books and discovered so many new to me authors! This seriously has been my best reading year yet!

I started my booksta in January of 2025 so I’m almost at my one year mark and I’m genuinely so shocked. I am so grateful for the booksta community, the friends I’ve made, and all of the amazing indie authors I’ve found this year. I have always loved reading but this year has brought me into a whole new world and I can’t imagine life without this community now.

I took a little hiatus from my account because life has been life-ing and I felt like booksta recently has so much unnecessary pressure. This is supposed to be fun, a place to connect with other readers and authors, and a place to share my love for books with others. I think I kind of let the engagement and posting pressure get to me until I just needed to pause all together. I’m glad for my break and I’m back and ready to just enjoy being here again!

I can’t wait to see what 2026 brings! 🫶

I am utterly obsessed with this mafia vampire romance. I didn’t know I needed a mafia and vampire crossover until this and now I’m ruined forever. This is the epitome of enemies to lovers trope with Rosa being a vampire slayer and Luca a vampire. Rosa is a Seer from a long bloodline of not quite humans who take out the vampires causing chaos. Luca is a centuries old vampire who is in the vampire version of the mafia.

The storyline in this is absolutely wonderful. There is so much going on but it’s easy to follow, it’s not overly complicated. I feel like some fantasy novels try to shove way too much in and you end up lost in the world. This is a perfect amount of fantasy/supernatural details without overwhelming the story. Their mafia hierarchy is similar to what any other mafia book has except they are vampires also. They have all the things you love in a supernatural book there are vampires, witches, and seers who make the story amazing! The side characters honestly made the book for me I need Donatella and Matteo’s stories asap!

From the very beginning I was absolutely hooked on Rosa and Luca. They both have such interesting backgrounds and their tension from the first meeting is off the charts. They have great banter and the humor mixed in to the seriousness of their situation is amazing. Rosa and Luca both have been through some insane traumas, and they do not trust anyone easily, but they have an undeniable connection. They really have to fight through so much during this book and I loved reading it.

This is book one in a duet so we are left a little incomplete until book two comes out, but it’s so worth it to read now. I cannot wait for book two I know it’ll absolutely blow me away same as this did!

Definitely check TW before reading!!

We just got some rain here in California this weekend so it’s finally feeling like fall 🍂

I took my girl to the pumpkin patch and this year she was big enough to pull her little wagon🥹

After the pumpkin patch the rain really picked up and we spent the rest of the weekend cozy inside 🌧️

Now that it’s feeling like fall I need a good cozy read to pickup…

This is the second book in the Nashville Firebirds series, and while it can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading Levi (the first book) before you dive into this one! The first book is about Levi, he’s Cooper’s best friend and Ally’s ex so we get a ton of their foundation in that book. Cooper always had an attraction to Ally but he never acted on it because of her attitude and behavior. Ally used to be manipulative as can be and was really the villain in book one. I had such strong feelings about her reading Levi and I’m so glad we got her story because she redemption is SO good.

Ally (kind of) is forced by her uncle (Cooper’s coach) to take a temporary nanny position for Cooper watching his four year old son Lucas. Cooper and Ally have known each other for years and though Cooper isn’t the biggest fan of her attitude he knows underneath it all she’s a good person and will care for his son. Their bit of forced proximity really brings all of their feelings to light and it makes it much harder to resist each other.

I am such a sucker for a single parent romance and I adore all of the adults interactions with their kids. Cooper is such a wonderful dad I absolutely loved every single thing about him and Lucas together. While Ally had her reservations about being full time with a kid she is also so amazing with Lucas. They had an immediate connection and their bond grew throughout the book so beautifully.

If you are looking for a heartwarming romance full of redemption for the “mean girl” you need to read this. (And read Levi too)
