There are very few people I’d leave the house for just four weeks postpartum—and Amanda is one of them. ❤️

She was one of the most constant friendships in my life when I lived in Rhode Island, and she’s been there through every phase, chapter, and version of me since.

The Northeaster may have kept us from Block Island, but somehow, a backup plan pulled together in literally three days didn’t feel like a backup plan at all. Newport was absolutely perfect. Amanda, I’m so lucky to have shared a little piece of life with you as roommates and even luckier that our friendship has lasted through all the chapters since.

We all know that moms often take on the role of the default parent; it’s like our bodies switch to auto-pilot the moment we hold our babies. And while I love it most days 😝, adding packing, travel, a new environment, mixed with work guilt, tensions were running high for this Mama!

Enter Garrett: not only did he drive through the night so Ruby could sleep on our 8-hour ride, but he also let me take off my mom hat and catch up with my college besties—some of whom I haven't seen since before I was pregnant with Ruby.

He just stepped up and did it. There isn’t a single day that goes by without him doing something to make our lives easier so I am not shocked that he made sure I enjoyed OUR vacation.

The world needs more men like him and Ruby and I are so thankful he’s ours. ❤️
