6 years old is the age my mom was when her parents stopped breathing.
6 years old : it’s the age we detected my first insomnia. Every night I prayed to not lose a parent.
6, is the number of years that separate me from my dad's last breath.
6 years old, this is your age Gianna.
You’ll remember it because your dad too has stopped breathing.

Us who have lost parents will always hold it against something :
against ourselves because we could not hold them up,
against them because they abandoned us,
against God because he seems to decide that a dad no longer deserves to live.
