The defense is flying around in a 2–3 style zone, sending two to the corner to force a turnover, but the offense answers with poise patience, spacing, and the right reads. The guard doesn’t panic, moves it out of the double, and 12 flashes into space so he becomes a decision maker instead of a statue at the free throw line. Building a Real Philosophy 📈💼To truly serve the prospects, families, and programs on this page, I am constantly investing in learning from the people who have reached the absolute highest levels of this game. Recently, I joined an incredible group masterclass featuring Coach Ernest Scott (Timberwolves Scout and 2020 Champion with the Lakers) and Coach Sean (2023 Champion with the Denver Nuggets and Player Development Coach). The biggest takeaway had nothing to do with X’s and O’s. It was about the power of relationships, having a foundational philosophy, and understanding that real growth happens when you listen more than you talk. In grassroot basketball, it’s easy to get caught up in the noise, the rankings, and the highlights. But championship level organizations look for more than that. They look at character, alignment, and how a player fits into a culture. Because of that insight, isn’t just to track stats it’s to evaluate the whole individual and help families navigate the hs and grassroot basketball landscape with a long term, sustainable philosophy.Huge thank you to both coaches for dropping the blueprint for everyone in attendance. 2027 (6”4)Tyrese Holmes | Brophy Prep (AZ) Section 7 Day 1 Vs Etiwanda Extended look at Holmes, whose impact was felt through advantage creation, defensive recognition, and his ability to consistently create solutions on both ends of the floor.Offensively, Holmes repeatedly forced defensive decisions through paint pressure and downhill attacks. Multiple possessions highlighted his ability to recognize help defenders, manipulate rotations, and create opportunities once the defense committed. Whether finding dump off passes, creating kickout opportunities, or generating scoring chances for teammates, Holmes consistently turned defensive reactions into offensive advantages.One sequence that stood out came before the ball was even delivered. Holmes directed a teammate from the strong side corner into the dunker spot before attacking baseline. Extended look at Jacobi Thompson ( 6”5) (2029)| Arcadia HS (AZ)vs Redondo Union Canyon(CA) - Section 7 Day 1. One of the more encouraging takeaways from this viewing was Thompson willingness to continue creating solutions against a physical defense.He consistently generated paint touches, applied downhill pressure, and forced defensive reactions that created opportunities for both himself and teammates. Several possessions stood out for the reads behind the play, from recognizing recovering defenders and attacking gaps with a strong handle to making timely passes once help committed. The possession that stood out most came against full court pressure. While there was an opportunity to force a pass near half court, he processed the coverage, recognized the risk, and instead made the safer advance pass that ultimately led to a hockey assist and free throw opportunity. The box score will not capture that decision, but it reflected poise, processing speed, and an understanding of game context.Throughout the game, he continued to pressure the paint, draw fouls, create advantages, and generate offense against a bigger, more physical opponent. 2028 Lleyton Leonard |Basha HS(6”4 JR) Extended look at my second in person evaluation of Leonard, and one of the biggest takeaways compared to my previous last season viewing was the opportunity to see more on ball creation within his offensive role with increased responsibility on the ball.The shooting component has always been part of his game, but this matchup and extended role provided additional opportunities to evaluate his ability to attack downhill, create advantages off the bounce, and make reads as a secondary ball handler. Leonard consistently applied pressure to the defense, forcing rotations and creating opportunities for both himself and teammates. Throughout the game , he continued to settle into the game and showed encouraging progress operating with the ball in his hands.Defensively, Leonard converted anticipation into offense with an interception that led directly to a transition dunk. He also competed on the glass, securing rebounds against bigger opponents and consistently finishing possessions and what the video dose show was the ability to explode getting across full court in a short amount of time with long strides was a notice watching throughout the game.The most encouraging takeaway from this viewing was seeing growth in his ability to create advantages beyond the shooting skill set that was already evident in previous evaluations and putting the ball on floor. #section7 by @az2nexthoops

Extended look at (Guard, JR) Kingston Montague (Basha) Vs Modesto Christian during day one of the Section 7 boys weekend.One of the biggest indicators of feel is the ability to recognize advantages before everyone else on the floor.Kingston consistently impacted the game through anticipation, processing speed, and decision making on both ends. Defensively, he generated multiple live ball opportunities by reading actions early , navigating screening action causing offensive fouls and beating his man to position keeping himself square, hustling and converting turnovers into offensive possessions or restarting the possession for the other team.Offensively, he repeatedly collapsed the defense, manipulated low man help, and created quality looks for teammates through timely kickouts, dump offs, and connective passing. When defenders went under or bigger defenders switched onto him, he remained decisive, creating separation and applying pressure as both a shooter and downhill attacker and showed confidence with a quick shooting ability off the dribble.The stat sheet may capture the points, assists, and steals. Extended look back at this past season between Sunnyslope High School and Basha High School featuring Darius Wabbington (6”11). These clips showcased Wabbington’s defensive versatility, mobility, and offensive patience throughout different situations on the floor.Defensively, he made a momentum changing vertical contest to prevent a game tying three, switched comfortably onto guards on the perimeter, disrupted actions at the top of the key, and protected the rim in drop coverage forcing difficult angles at the basket. He consistently stayed disciplined with positioning while using his length to alter shots without overcommitting.Offensively, Wabbington showed comfort operating from multiple areas of the floor. He established deep seals inside, faced up from the wing attacking defenders’ hips downhill, and used counters including a controlled spin while keeping his dribble alive to create space in the paint. He also displayed passing feel with an overhead read finding a teammate for a high percentage finish against a fronting defender.Throughout the clips, his ability to impact the game defensively while showing face up scoring flashes, interior touch, passing awareness, and mobility putting putting the ball on the floor at 6”11 stood out. by @az2nexthoops
