Founded on January 1, 2024, Phoenix Heat Canoe Club (PHCC) has quickly established itself as Arizona’s premier destination for competitive paddling, specializing in both Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe. Driven by a "One Voice" philosophy of team synergy and alignment, PHCC balances a structured training culture with a vibrant, welcoming community.

Our environment is built on the "hard-fun" of the sport—pushing our limits together during training cycles, then celebrating that shared effort off the water. At PHCC, you’ll find a second family that works hard, plays hard, and always paddles for the person sitting next to them.

Summer racing season was a good one for Phoenix Heat! 🔥 From Montreal to Long Beach, our crews put in the work, raced hard, and brought home some hardware along the way.

At the CAN-AM Club Crew Championships in Montreal, our Cataclysm crew, Senior A Mixed placed 2nd overall and our Bombshells, Premier Women placed 3rd overall

At the Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival our Bombshells, Women’s Division A, placed 2nd Place and our Blast crew, Mixed Division III B placed 1st.

We’re proud of everything our crews accomplished this summer and even more excited for what’s ahead! by @azdba

🏁 Arizona Sunsoon Makes History Today! 🏁

Racing begins at 8:18 PM Arizona time as Arizona Sunsoon makes its first-ever appearance at the Club Crew World Championships (CCWC) in Taipei!

Today, we'll be competing in the 500-meter Small Boat Women's Premier Division.

For those who may not be familiar with dragon boat racing classifications, many have asked why we are racing in the Premier Division rather than a Senior category. While our team's average age is over 50, our athletes range in age from 16 to 60+. In dragon boat competition, only paddlers 40 and older are eligible to compete in Senior divisions. Athletes under 40 must race in Premier. Since we have teammates under 40, our only option is to compete in Premier, meaning we're racing against generally younger crews. Athletes over 40 may race Premier, but athletes under 40 cannot race Senior.

This team is a true representation of Arizona dragon boating, bringing together athletes from:

🔹 Arizona State University (ASU)🔹 Arizona Gila Dragons🔹 AZDBA SunGi🔹 Team Blue

Together, these women have united under the Arizona Sunsoon banner to represent Arizona on the world stage for the very first time.

Please join us in cheering on Team Arizona as they take on the world's best!
💜💛🌵🐉 Go Arizona Sunsoon!
