The final days of San Mateo ’26: slightly different, more chill with more great food, music and Riojan Amor 🇪🇸❤️👏🏽

Including a visit to La Guardia, a mountain-top medieval village about 20 minutes away 🍷🙌🏽

Lots of good times and great wine at @baco_enoteca Wine Casino!

Setting up for the Grand Rib Cookout Contest (this happens each year, as part of the closing ceremonies…bonus, it’s in our soon-to-be neighborhood!)

St. Matteo, day 3, Mon. (late start for us 😇). The actual day of the Saint’s Feast, a regional holiday.

Many Penas are represented by their bands, all good, some amazing! Pena = traditional festive organizations (good deeds throughout the year, solidarity and man do they know how to party!)

The golden hour on Monday was lit!

We expected electro and were surprised by yacht rock!!

Still a party-palooza!

Day 2 of St. Matteo: a mellow start and a big bang of a finale! Snuck time in for Hank’s vermút habit 🤠🐶🇪🇸🎉 The marching bands each represent a different “pena” (more on that tomorrow) by @azdogdad

Yesterday morning: our first Fiesta de San Mateo‼️ Logroño hosts 200k visitors for a week of La Riojan Love. All under the watchful eyes of our Policia Nacionales (or as we call them Papis de Seguidad) 🇪🇸 taken in Logrono - España by @azdogdad

Our little city is in full glow up for @fiestasanmateo. Our first one!
