For the last day of endometriosis awareness month, I wanted to share my story about the invisible illness I’ve been silently dealing with. 2 months ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis, a chronic disease that has taken over my whole life. For over almost a decade I had excruciating pains that I have been told all my life was just “period pain” when in reality my insides were scarring, getting stuck together causing ovarian cysts. Endometriosis is an under researched disease that isn’t taken seriously most people wait 7-10 years to get a diagnosis yet it’s labeled as one of the top 20 most painful conditions in the world. Endometriosis affects 10% of women & I am 1 in 10. Endometriosis has no cure but I’m proud to be on the road to recovery after my surgery to live a healthier life & share my story, you never know what someone is going through. I’m beyond thankful & blessed for the strangers who have showed me so much love & support when I was going through such a hard time especially with how nervous I was to post about my health issues. Social media has brought me so many blessings & I’ve made such great friends. I trust in God & know I was built for a bigger purpose in this life.
