Hanging Up the Coaching Boots 🏀

Three championships in a row. Three years undefeated.🥶

The headlines will remember this team, and rightfully so. But as I reflect on this journey, I can’t help but think about all the teams that came before them, the late evenings, the hard workouts, the mistakes, the heartbreaks, the upsets, the sweat, the Tears and the countless moments in the trenches. Every Buzzer Beater, missed shot, every tough loss, and every small victory helped build what we celebrate today.

This third championship is a special milestone, but for me, it also feels like the perfect ending to a journey that was absolutely worth it.

To every player I’ve had the privilege of coaching: thank you. Thank you for trusting me, even when I had no clue what I was doing, no time, and sometimes no resources. Somehow, we always figured it out together.

The one thing I could always promise was that if things got heated, there was someone on the sidelines willing to get a technical foul on your behalf 😂.

To this championship team: you’ve done your job. The tradition is now yours to protect and extend.

For now, it’s time to take a step back from coaching and move to my natural position professional spectator, occasional critic, and full-time supporter.

Special shout out to;

Back-to-Back Champions 🏆🏆

Two years in a row with almost the same squad but a whole new style of play.

First off, I’m super proud of my boys!
Y’all made me fall in love with the game all over again. Watching from the sidelines this year was an absolute joy every minute, every play, every hustle.

This season reminded us of something deeper: not every day will be 100%, but as long as we lean on each other as a family, string together those small efforts, and trust in the team, we’ll always come out 100% strong. That’s what made this one so special.

From the tough workouts to the countless moments shared off the court this season will live long in the memory.

And for the first time ever, the games were sponsored by Anta Sports — which definitely adds some weight to our résumé (and yes, we’re still patiently waiting on those shoes 🤣😂).

Now presenting the squad each with their well-deserved titles:
1. Ken – MVC (Most Valuable Captain)
2. Hong – MVG (Most Valuable Graduate)
3. Brian – MVN (Most Valuable Ninja – bro, grow the hair back 😅)
4. P – MVP
5. Austin – MVSG (Most Valuable 帅哥)
6. C.K. – MVBG (Most Valuable Big Guy)
7. Shuan – SMVAFM (Special Most Valuable Aggressive & Fouling Man)
8. LT – MVTM (Most Valuable Tired Man)
9. Laobing – MVCM (Most Valuable Confused Man — but we love him 😄)
10. Enzo – SMVW (Special Most Valuable Weapon)
11. Marco – MVDP (Most Valuable Defensive Player)
12. PG – MVIP (Most Valuable Improved Player)
13. Doby – MVO (Most Valuable Organizer)
14. Ryan – MVIAP (Most Valuable Injured & Anonymous Player) 🤣

Off the court:
• Nadja – MVPVS (Most Valuable Photo & Video Specialist)
• Jinkai – MVOGS (Most Valuable Online Global Supporter)
• Len – MVDLB (Most Valuable 大老板)
• Alex – MVRM (Most Valuable Referee Manager)

To the fans, y’all have been great and loyal 🤩

God you’ve been amazing throughout (🙏🏾 I’ve learned the lesson)

Here’s to more sweat, laughter, and championships ahead.

The future is bright.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who helped make the @universityofvenda executives visit so beneficial.

The trip was immensely enriching and eye-opening as a result of your insightful discussions and warm hospitality.

I am particularly grateful to the @zhejianguniversity_zibs leadership for the opportunity and support showed throughout, as well as to the @zibsafrica team for their exceptional work and the selfless time they dedicated to ensuring that the visitors and the visit felt warm and welcome (I’m very proud 🥹).

Additionally, I extend my appreciation to the organisations (@ndb_int, @zhejianguniversity.isc, @thamanilux21 ) that hosted us, as well as to all the individuals who contributed behind the scenes to guarantee the success of this visit.

Upon reflecting on this journey, we are motivated by the potential for even more significant partnerships and the opportunities that lie ahead.

We anticipate further collaboration and the realisation of extraordinary milestones in our shared endeavours.

With appreciation,

Hakuna Matata ❤️

Sitting next to the Dean of GIBS and hearing him engage in our conversations confirmed the scripture that says, "I will bring you before great men."

a mini-me was ecstatic because of the level of comprehensive intellect emanating from his thoughts, the degree of story telling that compliments his words, and the icing on the cake is the strategic oversight of how he makes corporate decisions. Yes, I'm taking everything in.

Then, out of nowhere, a massive platter containing an 800 tomahawk lands on my table, the dean then says, "welcome home, Ben." 🥹

I'm pleased yahong was there to capture the moment.

There is much to learn, and progress requires work and sweat.

It's a journey, and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

I never really understood the meaning of the phrase "in sickness and in health, through trials and tribulations." Until this couple started invading my peaceful life. 😂🤣

I've seen you two navigate between mountains, cross the Red Sea on bare foot, avoid death, and still make pancakes when all hell breaks loose. And what struck me from my seat in the audience was your obvious passion and love for God, each other, family and his people.

Believe me, there will be more drama and action in the next seven years! While I wait for Taona to make his sprite-and-baking-soda chicken soup, I'll be sipping my ice tea and eat Alexina's leftover Shitoh and Fufu.
