We are extremely happy to announce Meg Walters solo show at B.east Gallery from the 1st October to the 15th of November. Meg Walters (b. 1985, Bermuda) is a Bermudian-Australian painter based in Newcastle, New South Wales. Raised between Bermuda and Canada, she studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London before moving to Australia.
Working primarily in painting, Walters explores landscape through memory, displacement and a shifting sense of place, creating environments suspended between actual geography and imagined space.
Her work has received growing recognition in Australia. In 2025, she was a finalist in both the Glover Prize and the Portia Geach Memorial Award, as well as the Hawkesbury Art Prize and MAC yapang Art Prize. In 2026, she was selected for the prestigious Bundanon Artist in Residence program.
Her recent institutional exhibitions include Multiverse at Tweed Regional Gallery (2022) and Palimpsest at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art (2026). by @b.eastgallery

This exhibition ‘The Ecstacy of Dying, the Vastness of Living’, came about from observing the cycles within nature of birth and death and rebirth. Nothing ever ends or begins, everything is in a constant state of flux and growth and dissolution.

I experienced micro deaths within each painting. You need to ‘kill’ parts of it along the way, and ultimately be willing to destroy parts of yourself alongside the painting as it takes its eventual form. Each painting shifts and blends and morphs into unnatural shapes whilst still eventually landing somewhere that depicts an ‘landscape’.

Elegance, intimacy, melancholy, Rafe Arthur (@rafearthur ) presents a composition inhabited by the lingering elegance of classicism. Athletic yet slender, his male figures evoke the bodies of the Greek gymnasium. On the left, the familiar motif of the thinker reappears in an unexpectedly intimate form: hunched over on a toilet, cigarette in hand . Classical beauty becomes introspective, languid, with a pleasant decadent undertone.
On view at B.east Gallery until the 20th of September.

A forest with no horizon, no single view - where nothing, not even the paint itself, exists alone.
