Huge congratulations to the team behind Get Back to Where You Came From on the RTS nomination 👏

Tackling a subject as complex and sensitive as immigration was no small task, and the team rose to the challenge. The result was an eye-opening series that challenged assumptions, created powerful television and sparked difficult conversations whilst bringing the topic to viewers beyond the usual current affairs audience.
We’re incredibly proud of the programme and the talented team who made it happen.

Exciting news
Fifty years ago I made a book titled ‘score for imagined music’. This consisted of geometric researches into generative forms of growth in Nature laid onto sheets of music notation.
A couple of years ago two musicians, Huw Costin, @huwcostin and Ben Smith, @b.j.smith_uk asked if they could develop sound form the pages of the book. I found the idea exciting.
Yesterday I went to Huw’s house where he played me several of the sound works made in relation to each page of the manuscript.
It was magical.
Each short work (approx 6 mins) had such a strong identity. I have still to properly understand how the translation process has been developed, I know it involves a ANS synth and scans of each drawing (see images) but need to better grasp the amazing work that the musicians have done.
What affected me was that the sound works each felt like a sonic engine of Nature, which is where and what the drawings were exploring. Still lots of thought to happen about the potential installation of these works and possible modes of distribution…but very exciting.
What can I say but a huge thank you to Huw and Ben for opening a completely new set of expressions in regard to the book and to a translation of the drawn works from 50 years ago.
