KARAN! at BAILE F**K - SUNDAY OCTOBER 18 @eqsandiego
(opener contest slide 2➡️)

We’re bringing Brazil to San Diego for our biggest baile funk party yet.

Headlining the night is @karanzera , coming in from Brazil with a sound rooted in funk, mandelão and Favela Bass. Known for pushing Brazilian funk into heavier and more experimental club territory, KARAN! has released music across some of electronic music’s most respected labels and built a sound centered around impact, movement and unmistakably Brazilian energy.

Joining him from San Francisco is renowned selector QUEENIE (@cafeconpostre ), the DJ and curator behind @itsmostlycloudy , one of SF’s most exciting platforms for baile funk, bass and forward-thinking club music. Her sets move freely across Brazilian funk, ghetto tech, Miami bass, house and beyond, built first and foremost for the dancefloor.

Rounding out the lineup is our resident curator @b.joyce__ , the driving force behind the BAILE F**K series and a selector whose sets move through baile funk, electro, club and hip-hop. Across each edition, she has helped shape the series into a space for adventurous dance music, new artists and sounds that have yet to find a regular home in San Diego.

We’re also opening up the first slot of the night through an OPENER DJ CONTEST — giving one artist the chance to join the lineup and open the party. Full contest details on slide 2 ➡️

October 18 marks the fifth edition of our monthly series, and we’re making this one our biggest yet. We’re taking over EQ for a celebration of Brazilian funk, bass and club music, bringing international sounds together with San Diego’s growing dance community. This is shaping up to be a special one, so we recommend locking in tickets early before the room fills up.

Was honored to play Sem Parar earlier this year
with @esq8c_ @saritalinda93 & @asphodele___

This event was curated by @sbriabookhard & @julionamaintanancevisit , held in a beautiful gallery space @highwaysps

The exhibition showcased Brazil’s dance culture with audiovisual installations and other physical/digital media types. They also included my own audiovisuals I had made for my BAILE_F**K mix. Seeing my work in an intentionally developed space was so special to me!

This event really set the tone for me as I was approaching my journey into curating my own Baile shows. It’s important to me that I respect and contribute to the education of sub cultural genres within dance music.

I cannot express enough the gratitude I have for Storm & Juli for the opportunity as well as their support. They met every single person in that room with nothing but love and hospitality. You guys are amazing.

In honor of this event I wanted to release my set from this night. I’m not gonna lie this is probably one of my best projects I’ve put out so far, so if you take a listen I truly love you for that.

Thank you all for the continued support in all my music endeavors 🫶🏼

BAILE_F**K mixed by B.Joyce

Paying homage to Brazil 🇧🇷

“I recorded this mix in one take, and honestly, I surprised myself. Most of these tracks were fresh downloads, and it was my first time mixing them. You can hear how much fun I was having, and I think that energy is what made it come together so well. Lately, I’ve been incorporating a lot more baile into my mixing , so I’m really excited to share this one!” -B.Joyce
