For my fellow weird/cosmic horror fans, I wanted to look back to one of the most important and influential works in the genre. After I first read this back in high school, I couldn't believe how often I'd catch a subtle or even overt reference to it in other books, movies, tv shows, video games and even music.

The stories start off strong but actually become lighter in tone as you go, almost as if the play in the story is lulling you into a sense of false security.

It's better to go in mostly blind, in my opinion, but I'll say that the "play" the stories reference claws at the mind and "the yellow sign" will have you feeling paranoid for days.

For non horror fans, feel free to skip it, but it is worth the time if you're willing to give it a shot.

I've always been a fan of adventure stories. Daring tales of intrigue, action, and discovery. Characters with a stubborn confidence and a ton of heart.

As I wrote my upcoming novel, The Scepter of Infinity, I kept all of that in mind; I wanted to capture the idea of venturing into the unknown and forgotten with a wild surmise and plenty of humor.

It always helps to add some romance, too! 😉

"Impossible jus' a word fer people who wanna give up!" - Telethynia Etteon.

Introducing Telethynia Etteon, the FMC of my upcoming novel, The Scepter of Infinity!

Thirty years ago, a group known as the Storm Banner saved the world from the very brink of total annihilation. Shortly after, two of the Banner's members - Remyr and Epitaph Etteon - had a daughter.

Now a full-fledged adventurer in her own right, Telethynia Etteon seeks to rise from the Banner's shadow, help as many people as possible and have fun along the way.

I absolutely love how perfectly the incomparable @ina_koffen_reads captured Telethynia, but I'd be remiss to not mention that Telethynia is inspired by one of her d&d characters!

The Scepter of Infinity is a slow-burn, why choose, adventure romantasy. Expect intense action and nonlinear storytelling, like Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series, Sarah J. Maas' Throne of Glass series, and FromSoftware's Dark Souls trilogy of games; as well as playful banter and clever problem-solving like Rebecca Yarros' Fourth Wing series, Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastards series, or the Larian Studios Divinity series of games. by @b.w.fleck

Green in #MagictheGathering represents instinct, tradition, and the natural world. It is best known for rapidly accumulating mana by calling up more lands, conjuring gigantic creatures or making small ones massive threats with powerful boost spells, and destroying artifacts and enchantments.

For today's picks, I wanted to show the beauty and horror of nature. What happens when we respect it, and more terrifyingly, what happens when we don't.

Green is definitely one of my favorite colors to build decks with and some of today's picks are personal favorites as well.

Last, now, next!

I just finished up a reread of Drachenfels, one of the earliest Warhammer novels. It was excellent, like a really campy gothic romance.

I was also lucky enough to grab a free copy of Threshing Day from a local Little Free Library and I have been LOVING it so far!

As for my next read, @nonfictionfeminist recommended Ship of Death and I am so excited to check it out! by @b.w.fleck

I loved Joe Abercrombie's First Law trilogy, especially its inaugural work: The Blade Itself.

Imagine if Conan the Barbarian was trying to start over and live a peaceful life but instead got hired by Gandalf for a mercenary job.

The plot is interesting but it's mostly set up for the later books. Where The Blade Itself shines is its characters.

I highly recommended it for any and all fantasy fans.
