Pregnancy loss is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through. The news that I was going to be a father changed everything and made me permanently, cloyingly happy, but that gave way to a hellish - and ridiculously drawn-out - journey of bad news, speculation, false hope, waiting, and ultimately… a grief like I’ve never felt before. Natalie and I have been numb with pain ever since hearing that this was a possibility and all throughout the process that followed; that pain might subside over time, but it’s a pain that I’ll feel for the rest of my life.
The whole ordeal has brought us even closer as a family, and although we are super open with one another, I can’t even begin to fathom her pain knowing what mine is like. All I can do for her is love and support her the way I always have — and that just doesn’t feel like enough.
