Zapphire Lounge (Queens, NY) 😋 6/10

I mean this in the best way possible but sometimes we need to leave the simple things simple. I got shrimp tacos and truffle fries from here after a beach day with the girls. The fries, itself, was cool but is the truffle in the room with us? Also the tacos were overrrrly loaded. So much so that I felt like I had a cholesterol overdose. I was hungry so I ate as much as I could but I wouldn’t go back for food.

Now I would go back for some chill vibes and drinks.

Additionally, they were out of a lot of things on the menu so that caused them to lose some points.

Ammazzacaffè (Brooklyn, NY) 😋 8/10

Shoutout to this Italian restaurant for rescuing us after running late and needing a quick bite. We had the GAMBERETTI for appetizers (shrimp) and while the portions were small, it was very flavorful. Then for the main we both got the same dish of GARGANELLI (a bolognese pasta). It was also super tasty but very al dente. I enjoy my noodles a bit softer. For the drinks I got an espresso martini. No notes! It was perfect. He got the Summer Fling (Tequila Reposado based)

All in all, I would go back just not if I am starving. The proportions will leave you hungry if you haven’t eaten prior.

The Garden Bar & Grill (Brooklyn, NY) 😋 8/10

Tasty Spot in Williamsburg. We celebrated my homegirl’s birthday here. The music was a total vibes and the food was good too. The best thing we had, had to have been the steak and rice with tostones and the steak nachos. I could eat those nachos all day everyday TBH. Totally worth the visit!

Costa at Rosewood (The Bahamas) 😋 8/10

This is another restaurant located in Baha Mar (the hotel truly is GRAND). Jada and I went for lunch here. I had the carne asada tacos and they SLAPPED. The steak was delectable. Jada tried some too and approved. But the restaurant got this rating because Jada absolutely hated her fish ceviche and she is a total ceviche girl so once she hated it, I took that as law. We also had spicy margaritas and when I tell you it was a spicy delight?? I meant that whole heartedly.

When the server came back he noticed Jada didn’t eat her ceviche and she was very honest and told him it was not appetizing. So the chef brought out complementary churros for us and took the ceviche off the bill. Excellent service and the churros were really rich and yummy.

Marcus Up Top at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House (The Bahamas) 😋 9/10

I am literally thinking about the fries from this day 🤤 They were so good and I’m a sucker for a yummy basic set of fries. Wow. The steak was also super seasoned but (and I can’t believe im saying this) it could have been a bit less “done.” I ordered medium well and it was leaning to well done. Other than that no notes!

Oh and drink your tea like Jada and me ☕️. We had the most natural mint teas out in the 🇧🇸 with fresh mint leaves every time.

Amber Steak House (Brooklyn, NY) 😋 8/10

Today’s restaurant review is my man’s choice 💘 We went to this steakhouse on Valentine’s Day.

Fried Calamari - 6/10 the sauces were good but I like crispy calamari and it was veryyy lightly fried - $26
16 oz. New York Strip - 9/10 - $67
Steak (NY Strip) and Shrimp with Scampi Sauce - 8/10 for the steak, 9/10 for the shrimp - $84
Parmesan Truffle Fries - 7/10 - $22
Broccoli - 1/10 he literally took one bite and never touched it again 😭 - $13

I completely forgot to take a pic of the drinks yall sorry 😣 but here’s what we got:

Her’s (I’m a dark girly):
- Summer Rye (whiskey based) - 7/10 - $23
- Flor de Sevilla (gin + wine based) - 9/10 - $18

His:
- Mai Tai (dark + light rum and Amaretto based) - 3/10 he hated it and it in fact was medicine tasting - $18
- Peach Cosmo (vodka based) - 9/10 better - $17

Service: 6/10. Ladies was nice enough to give me a vase for my flowers… at first. Then she recommended us to change one of our side to have veggies instead of another starch but the broccoli sucked 😣 After, I was a bit annoyed because she didn’t give us a warning before last call, I asked for another drink and she said no, then she came back to ask if we wanted something else 😐… didn’t you just tell me… anyways. Plus the bar did not look closed. But whatever. We just joked about it and didn’t let it ruin our night. Things stress you out less when you’re with someone who makes the most of things 🖤

All the other workers seemed really sweet. They were really nice to me when I was walking around.

Total: Not sure 🤷🏾‍♀️ Thank you baby 😘

The Simpson Restaurant & Bar (Brooklyn, NY) 😋 8.5/10

After years of passing and telling myself I need to try it, I finally tried the Simpson. I had the “curry stew” which came with cheese coconut jasmine white rice and my friend had the oxtail with rice and peas.

Both meals came with a side of sautéed greens.

Curry stew (curry goat) - 9/10. I wish that it came with more rice because I dislike when the rice finishes before the meat does.

Oxtail (my friend’s POV) - 8/10. The browning seemed to have been burning for too long because some pieces had a bitter after taste.

For drinks I got the “Barclay” and my friend got rum punch. NO NOTES on the drinks 10/10. Great proportion, great taste, and I literally watched them put LIQUORRR up in them drink. We had two of each and that was satisfying enough.

I’d also like to give a special shout out to the server at the door. We came in with no reservations and we were told that it would be an hour and a half wait and thankfully the waiter made it his due diligence to find us seats at the bar in 5 minutes tops. Cleaned the spot and everything.

One note: If I were to go back, and it is just me and another person, I would definitely get the sampler instead of two separate meals because the sampler comes with curry goat, jerk chicken, oxtail, plantains, coconut white rice, rice & peas, and sautéed veggies. We thought that this portions would have been too small so we didn’t get that, but when we saw another person in order the sampler, it seemed like about the same amount of food that we got in full meals. And the sampler was $66.

Total spend: about $90 per person. Keep in mind any tab over $160 will have an additional 20% gratuity charge. by @b3lly.full
