I’m just a kid from Brooklyn, and basketball changed my life in so many ways. It took me places I could only dream of and allowed me to meet some amazing people along the way.
Thank you, basketball, for giving me an escape from reality—or, should I say, the reality I was living. Thank you for being patient with me, even when I didn’t have patience for myself.
As I write this, I’m in tears, trying to understand why I’m so emotional. If y’all only knew what I’ve been through, you would understand why. From playing at a nationally ranked high school (Boys & Girls High School), to one of the top JUCO programs in the country (Lee College), to a mid-to-high-major D1 school (UALR), and ultimately playing professionally for four years. God is real, and He is alive! My time as a player has come and gone, and now it’s time for me to pass down my knowledge, experience, and love for the game to the next generation. I’m hanging up my kicks and picking up a whistle. But don’t get it twisted—I can still bust some of y’all’s butts on the court 😂🤷🏾‍♂️

Summer Recap, taking Aidan to New York for the first time meant a lot to me. Showing him where I was from and how I was raised was a different feeling that I never felt before. I found myself tearing up a lot because he was really enjoying himself. Putting a smile on his face was the highlight of my summer! Daddy Roy will forever love and cherish you!
