Still experimenting in After Effects (my desktop is not thrilled). This one’s inspired from a passage in Algernon Blackwood’s 1908 novella “Ancient Sorceries” and the character of Nikki from Obsession– the moment a woman’s gaze shifts from passive observation to something closer to malice. I love how the gaze in the story was described as inescapable, like a miasma. No longer an object but a subject. by @b_h___b

I love the romance and mysticism of this quote from “Ingmar Bergman Confides in Students”, a 1981 article from the NYT. Creativity is a discipline, yes, made from dedicated time in the studio. But it’s so fun when your subconscious gives you clues. by @b_h___b

✨3️⃣7️⃣✨

I’ll take any chance to indulge, and since my birthday falls near the middle of the calendar year, I spend the day reflecting and looking forward. An extra special itinerary reminds me of my commitment to myself. Today was for the opening of Clinamen @parkavearmory, steak frites, my first time seeing Lost Highway at Angelika, and a 20+ bottle wine tasting a few blocks from home. All of my favorite things.

A few weeks ago, I was walking the Prospect Park loop, down one of the quieter paths off the main trail. I passed someone practicing saxophone alone in a shaded clearing. I stopped to watch for a bit, but then thought better, privacy matters! I found a tree trunk a little further up, sat in the sun, hid in the greenery, and let the music wash over me.

The older I get, the deeper I sink into who I am, my interests, my tastes, and a gratitude that small moments like that fulfill and sustain me. I don’t take this life for granted, and I’m so thankful to keep growing, blossoming, becoming.

Beauty is all around us, real and present, here for you right now. You don’t have to wait to appreciate the miracle of the everyday. Sending love 💗 by @b_h___b
