9 years ago, I dropped to a knee deep in the backcountry of our favorite place and asked the girl of my dreams to spend the rest of her life with me. I still don’t know how I got so lucky. Sometimes I look at this life we’ve built and can’t believe it, but here we are.

You’ve loved me the deepest through some of my darkest days. You’ve been the best mom I could ever ask for to our kids. You’re beautiful, athletic, funny as hell. You keep me steady, your optimism is contagious, and you definitely know how to have a good time. But more than anything, you’ve loved me unconditionally through every version of me.

I don’t take a single day, hour, or minute I get beside you for granted. This life is way too short, and getting to live mine with you is something I’ll never stop being grateful for.

Here’s to year 9, Les. And to a future with you by my side that 9 years ago I could have only dreamed about.

One of the best things Les and I ever did was throw together a little home gym with what we had. All the boys work their tails off in here.

The habits we build in our kids today become the standards they live by tomorrow. At 5 years old, hopefully he’s already learning a lesson some adults never do: effort is a choice.

17 today. Someone hit the pause button.

For you, this is one of those years where life really starts opening up. More freedom, more responsibility, more figuring out who you are and who you want to become. For me, it’s one of those moments that really hits you how fast this all goes. Watching the little kid version of you slowly turn into a young man has honestly been one of the best parts of my life.

You’ve got a strong mind, resilient as hell, a huge heart, you’re so damn funny and you’ve got your own way about you. Proud of you for that. Keep building, keep learning and keep being a good dude to the people around you. You’ve got so much in front of you and I can’t wait to stand by your side through it all.
