how hard can it be if boys do it?? 🤭

this saturday I accomplished a long time goal. I finished my first ironman 70.3 in 5:19, placing 3rd in my AG, and qualifying for the worlds competition. when I began this journey, I knew I had to give it my all, because if there’s one thing about me, it’s that I can’t do anything without taking it all the way. at the start, my dream of qualifying for worlds and going sub 5:30 felt like the biggest deal. but in the past 4 months, I learned that the journey would be even more rewarding than the end product. the girl that signed up for the race was not the same girl who crossed the finish line. she is physically and mentally tougher, she has a deeper understanding of herself, her body shows more scars and strength, and she feels the deepest sense of pride and fulfillment. training taught me so much about resilience, dedication, sacrifice, and finding joy in the discomfort. its insane to see the fruits of your labor come to fruition and for all those times of doing shit you don’t want to compound into your dreams coming true. i feel so proud of the work, even separate from the end result. i’m so grateful to show other girls that we can accomplish anything with hard work, especially in a male dominated sport where all the boys have $20k bikes and i’m the only one out there on a road bike, no aero bars, and am still taking them down like pac man. i also know i couldn’t have done this alone and am so grateful to those that supported me all the way through - pretending to know what all the tri terminology meant, listening to me complain and cry about this (fully optional) adult hobby, share in endless conversations about my goals and v02 max, feed my bottomless appetite, and cheer me across the finish line, even though i knew they were proud of me before the race even started. thank you a million times over. i feel like this is only the start of a long and (hopefully) successful career in this sport, because man is it rewarding. see you again soon IM! by @ba.ylor
