Black folks and Asian folks GOT to be cousins because we're the only ones that can trust each other when it comes to knowing what is spicy. What's your favorite spicy food? #Black #Asian #Blasian #spicy #food by @baanorg

One of the most difficult things to do in these situations is focus on the individual. Focusing not only for the action they took to incite anger in others by using slurs; focusing not only because people who say these kinds of things, on either side, are more than likely going through a crisis; focusing not only because there are people who don't use slurs and these situations make it difficult to think about them in the moment. Just remember, no matter who the main character is in the video of the week, a singular instance does not represent an entire community. If you care about solidarity you are not easily duped into having a knee jerk reaction to this one woman as if she represents all Asian people no more than anyone else should be painting Black people with broad strokes because of attack videos that disproportionately highlight when perpetrators attack Asian people. taken in New York, New York by @baanorg

"Resolutely support the just struggle of the Black Americans" Cao Youcheng, 1966 April. What happened between then and now? What forces entered the scene and caused the division we experience today? What caused us to forget that there were movements, artwork, real people who believed in Black and Asian solidarity as a means to take down the real enemy? How did we end up being disrespectful toward one another, barely knowing each other in an era of unlimited access; when previously we all understood the assignment?

A member of BAAN sent us these pictures from their child's school. A board celebrating #aapiheritagemonth and being inclusive of various Asian communities typically left out of the conversation such as South Asians, Southeast Asians, and Blasians. We live to see the inclusion! by @baanorg

Afghans are Asian too. More importantly, Afghans are humans too. ✊

Support Afghan refugees by volunteering or donating to organizations dedicated to their protection and accommodation, such as https://www.lirs.org/

To support Palestine, check out the Boycott, Divest, Sanction (BDS) movement using the sites listed below! BDS targets corporations complicit/supportive of the human rights violations committed by the Israeli government and does NOT target individuals or Jewish people as a whole. ☝️ A major company to boycott would be HP (Hewlett and Packard/DXC Technology) since they helped create and maintain information systems used to detain and track Palestinians (including children). Others that operate on occupied land/exploit the resources and people of Palestine are: Pillsbury, Puma, Sabra Hummus, Ben & Jerry’s.

Behind every number is a human who has every right to live and have basic rights and freedoms. We strive for the liberation of all. ❤️

On August 7, 2021 we successfully held the first NYC BAAN gathering! Since June 2020, when BAAN first began, we have looked forward to such an event where we could sit with each other, talk, have fun and exchange cultural ideas. Nearly a year and a half after the COVID 19 pandemic began, we were able to meet in a small group on a Saturday afternoon and make that happen. As we navigate this new normal toward safety in group gatherings, we look forward to having larger gatherings with even more people and events. taken in New York City by @baanorg
