Not every day you get invited to Hell's Kitchen...and meet Gordon Ramsay! 🔥👨‍🍳We had the pleasure of attending the @hellskitchen launch event at @cumberlandhotellondon where we enjoyed incredible food, signature cocktails, and a behind-the-scenes look at one of the Londons newest dining experiences! The highlight of the evening? Meeting Gordon Ramsay himself! 🤩 While we didn't quite capture the moment on camera, it's one that'll be forever imprinted in my memory 😂 Such a cool down to earth guy! One thing I’ve noticed in Paris is that hospitality is absolutely thriving here. Every café, restaurant and wine bar is packed at all hours of the day. it’s not tourists filling them. It’s locals. French people still genuinely prioritise going out, sitting together, eating slowly, ordering drinks, talking for hours and making hospitality part of everyday life rather than an occasional treat. I went to a restaurant at 6pm on a Monday after it had literally rained all day, within 30 minutes, a restaurant that seats up to 90 people was FULL. And all I could hear around me was French.Just locals out enjoying themselves and it really got me thinking… what is England doing wrong? it’s not the weather, even in a storm Paris Hospitality venues are still busy, the system around hospitality in England is becoming impossible. Rising costs, insane rents, business rates, council pressures, energy bills, parking prices, unsafe city centres, reduced public transport and people feeling financially stretched all the time. Take Birmingham for example. The city has incredible independents, creatives and hospitality brands trying their hardest, yet it constantly feels like businesses are battling against the city instead of being supported by it. Empty units, ongoing disruption and a council situation that’s damaged confidence massively. Hospitality businesses in Paris have pressures also, They still deal with high rents, staffing costs, inflation and taxes. But the difference feels cultural. Hospitality here feels protected because cafés, restaurants and bars are seen as part of everyday life, not just somewhere people go when they have “spare money”.Paris also feels built for hospitality. It’s walkable, social, dense and centred around community spaces. Meanwhile in England, it can sometimes feel like hospitality businesses are expected to regenerate entire city centres while being squeezed from every angle... France seems to build cities around hospitality culture, while England often regulates hospitality like it’s something to manage or contain. In England, going out is starting to feel like a luxury. In Paris, it still feels like living.#supporthospitality by @bab_social
