The Brazilian actor Armando Babaioff first read Michel Marc Bouchard’s Tom at the Farm in 2014 and stopped at one line in the preface: “Homosexuals learn to lie before they learn to love.” He bought the rights, translated it into Portuguese himself and built the production with director Rodrigo Portella.

A young man travels to a remote farm for his lover’s funeral, only to find a family who never knew their son was gay, and an older brother prepared to keep it that way.

This is theatre you feel in your body: bruising, physical and relentless, with no respite for the actors or the audience. Seventeen seasons in Rio, 7,000 people at the Edinburgh Fringe and over 600 performances later, it has finally arrived in London!

“I want to make people confused,” Babaioff told us. “I like to see people’s brains shaking.”

walked out of this play and sobbed in the park for like twenty minutes while furiously scribbling in my lil notebook. which is kind of everything i want from a theatrical experience to be honest 🐄

É New York City, com três sessões “sold out”. Ingressos esgotados para os três dias no Skirball de Nova York, em Manhattan. O teatro precisou abrir o balcão, coisa que nunca faz para teatro, somente para música.

A Fazenda de Tom é o mundo. Uma história que começou há quase 10 anos atrás numa sala com capacidade para menos de 100 espectadores, e nunca mais parou, se apresentando por todo o Brasil e também fora dele - Canadá, França, Reino Unido, Suíça, Bélgica, Coreia do Sul e nos importantes Festivais de Avignon e Edimburgo.

Tom’s farm is the world. A story that began almost 10 years ago in a room with fewer than 100 seats, and has never stopped traveling since. It has toured all across Brazil and beyond — Canada, France, the UK, Switzerland, Belgium, South Korea, and the prestigious Avignon and Edinburgh festivals.

Brazilian theater taking the world by storm. Audiences experiencing it in their own languages, with subtitles. This is not an event limited to Brazilian communities abroad. It’s the world discovering our talent and connecting with our theater.
