My debut album ‘Babo Moreno’ is out today!

Released on my own label Matuska Records and distributed by @kudosrecords.

Alongside that comes my final single of the album ‘Sun City’. This is my tribute to Salvador, Bahia and carnival but more on that over the coming days. For now here’s my take on the album :

This record is me finding my voice not just musically, but culturally. Growing up in London as the son of Brazilian immigrants, I’ve always lived between two worlds. This album is a love letter to both. It’s rooted in the rhythms and spirit of Brazil but shaped by the energy of London and the global music scene I’ve grown up in.

Every second-generation immigrant carries a unique blend of cultures, each of us absorbing different elements from both our heritage and the world we grow up in.

Though our experiences are distinct, we’re united by a shared understanding of what it means to live in that in-between space. For me, making sense of that blend has been a deeply personal journey, one that’s shaped how I see myself and the world around me.
This album is the result of that process: a reflection of identity, growth, and the beauty of existing between cultures.

I made this for people like me, second-generation, in-between cultures, trying to hold on to something that feels like home, even if it’s constantly shifting.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart
to everyone who played a part in making this record happen, I’m forever indebted to you all!

Babo 💚🇧🇷💚

Loving the freedom on the new Travelling Without Moving intro. Using some repique language on the #lp timbau!

Obrigado, Claudia!

@jamiroquaihq em SP!

A lil snippet of some conga cam from the show in Tokyo, courtesy of @bjornkerstan_drums 🫶🏼

This section that was added to the arrangement of Canned Heat can be extended for quite some time most nights so for me it’s all about consistency, locking in with @degzy99, @paulturnerbass and @robharrisgtr and developing the melody, almost thinking of it as a synth line.

A beautiful start to the summer with the @jamiroquaihq family. Lots of lakes, football, pasta and a full circle moment where I had some school band mates ( a band in which we used to play Cosmic girl) attend the gig in Sevilla, where another school friend now lives. A real what is life moment.

I hate all the #blessed bullshit but it’s with pointing out that I’m aware that not everyone gets these moments in life and I don’t take any of it for granted.

Adelante!

P.s Sevilla is bloody beautiful and why didn’t you tell me about it before?

🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

¡Adelante!

P.S. Sevilha é absolutamente linda. Porque é que ninguém me falou disto antes? by @babo_moreno
