This is my why.

Not the pool.

Not the fish fry.

Not even the 70 people showing up.

This.

The ability to say, “Let’s do it.”

To make magic on a random Friday.

To open our home and yard and feed people we love.

To create the kind of childhood where the neighborhood kids run barefoot until dark and beg to stay just a little longer.

To be generous without stressing over every dollar.

To have the flexibility to spend the afternoon blowing up a giant pool because it sounds fun.

This is the vision.

A life with enough margin to be spontaneous.
Enough abundance to be generous.
Enough freedom to say yes to the things that matter.

And honestly, seeing all of it come together never gets old ✨#magic #freedom #friends #blockparty #fishfryfriday by @babs.slatts

We met on a bus to Colorado summer after 6th grade for me and after 8th grade for Dew. We never would have guessed after 15 years living completely separate lives, across several states and both getting engaged to other people at one point that our paths would bring us back together in a bar in Tulsa in August of 2015. That night changed the whole trajectory of our lives forever. And now 7 years later we have created this amazing life and these two precious little girls. Thank you, God, for your plan always being bigger and better than our own. ✨ by @babs.slatts

I know what it feels like to be a kid who trusts someone completely. And that’s exactly why parenting this part scares me.

I don’t want to hand them my fear.
But I also refuse to let my fear keep me silent.

So I’m learning how to teach awareness without stealing their innocence.

Trudging through the shit as I go.

If you’ve lived through *s-xual or any abuse raising kids too, you’re not alone. 💪🏼

I literally had to talk to my therapist about how people value birthdays differently. That’s another level of birthday brat 😂 but in all seriousness, it helped me understand so much about how some people value things differently than others. Not right or wrong. Just different. But also if you know that someone you love values something differently than you, EVEN IF YOU DONT VALUE IT AS MUXH… you bet your ass I’m going to work on showing you, you matter and what you value matters. ((My husband had to learn this one and he has come a far way)) 😂😘😘

Thank you for all the bday love. I truly appreciate you taking the time to love on me 🫶🏼🫶🏼 by @babs.slatts

I’ve been thinking a lot about the way my dad believed in me.

He was OBSESSED with Tony Robbins. 😂 He was so into positive thinking, the power of belief, and speaking things into existence—and he did that for me constantly.

He had this unwavering confidence in who I was. He thought I had the best memory, that I was incredibly intelligent, and just genuinely thought I was pretty damn special.

I used to naively think every parent made their kids feel that way. Of course your parents think you’re the funniest, cutest, smartest person alive, right?

The older I get, the more I realize that not everyone was lucky enough to have parents who poured that kind of belief into them.

My dad believed in me more than I believed in myself.

He’s been gone for 20 years, and sometimes I wonder if he truly believed all those things about me—or if he just knew that if he said them enough, I would eventually believe them too.

I wish I could ask him.

Because somewhere along the way,
I stopped believing in myself again.

And I think a part of me
is still trying to hear him say:

“I told you you could.” by @babs.slatts
