Jae Wilkinson will be tending to the fire and bringing you a line up of wintry treats, fermented bits and juicy smoky bites straight off the fire.

A new face to the BABS family. Here’s what Jae had to say about working with us at one of our favourite digs Ester Spirits for our upcoming event Fermenta!;

“Meeting and working with other women who are killing it in the Sydney hospo scene, [it’s a] great opportunity to support and be supported by each other.

[The hospitality industry] has its challenges at times. Gender bias can feel impossible to beat no matter how good you are at what you do but I feel hopeful that slowly the industry is changing for the better.

[I’m passionate about] engaging in community! It’s been some time since I really settled in once place so I’ve been having a lot of fun meeting new people from all different walks of life. ONE DAY ONLY: BABS POPS UP X ESTER SPIRITS TURKISH STREET FEAST

Step into the bustling backstreets of Marrickville as @babs_pops_up and @esterspirits bring you an immersive Turkish street feast, inspired by chef Ellie Hayes O’Brien’s travels through Turkey. Expect fire-kissed meats, earthy spices, tangy pickles, and an indulgent selection of add-ons - all served market-style for a truly communal dining experience.

Inside Ester Spirits, cocktails will take their cue from Istanbul’s spice markets - rosewater, sumac, sour cherry, and orange blossom weaving through beautifully fragrant drinks.

Mats will be laid out for lounging, plates passed between friends, and glasses topped with fragrant, spice-laced cocktails.

Come hungry, come thirsty, and be ready to lose yourself in the sights, scents, and flavours of a bustling Turkish meyhane for one unforgettable afternoon.

First in the “Creative Odyssey” Series, is hospitality duo, @eehob and @becshave of @babs_pops_up. We sit down to discuss the inspirations and challenges of building a female led hospitality business.
