Lovely morning, tracking vocals with the supremely talented and all round lovely humans, @classicalreflection for the fantastic @anthonyewhitecomposer …this production is looking incredible. The rest of this afternoon, drum work, putting our new Lynx through its paces….. I’m not gonna lie, the studio has been super hot this afternoon, but this is literally perfection ❤️❤️❤️ #recordingstudio #vocalrecording #classicalvocal #musicstudio #lynxstudio #localbusiness #oundle #peterboroughmusic #londonmusic #leicestermusicscene #birminghammusicscene taken in Backland Studios by @backlandstudios

We had the pleasure of having @muntjac_trail with us recently. They are great people, love their music, and we recorded an excellent track.

We wanted as much room colour as possible from the studio space for this recording, so we tracked the drums and cabs in the Green Room. Vocals were recorded in the super-tight Blue Room.

For the outboard gear, the kit was tracked with our punchy API 3124+ and Neve 1073s driven hot. We crushed the room with an Avalon 737sp and used our UA 610s to open everything up a bit more. All compression was handled with the Distressor and our JDK unit, which we absolutely love and use on almost everything.

For guitars, we used a blend of our Orange TH30, Mesa F30, with Ethan’s Marshall. Mustang short-scale was run through a Little Mark 250 and cab. For vocals, we opted for our Peluso 2247LE into one of our DPAs, into Distressor.

Easy session.

Track is out now and a real good listen 👂

Goedeavond!

We have a bunch of tracks going out over the next few months. This wonky track was written some time ago and thought we’d put it out. Started as an ident, went into something weird. Loved making this, kinda an indie electro Battles vibe. Thanks to @spindiesel_81 for drum work on this.

It’s kinda saying cake is pretty good. What’s not to like about cake when you feel like your head is falling out.

Out now Bandcamp and some of the other streamers.

It’s dark. It’s not summer anymore. It’s definitely dark.

But it’s wicked tracking at night time, especially vocals. Running late sessions is good. We like late sessions.

This track goes out today. It is one of two releases, written in memory of my friend Luke. I still struggle with his loss, and he remains firmly in my thoughts. I talk about him a lot to my wife.

While I’ve enjoyed singing, I feel there is too much self-doubt for me to continue with vocals. Dunno. I plan to focus on collaborations for future Grains tracks. For me, the process of writing is just as rewarding as the final outcome, and I find releasing music deeply cathartic.

I hope he would have liked it.
