Happy 80TH Birthday to My Mother In Law…
Matriarch Mom Liliane❣️
We All Celebrated Eighty Years Of her Life, Love, Grace and Faith. An Amazing Beautiful Woman of Wisdom with a Big Heart of Gold. Her energy is infectious, her love is pure and her hugs are healing and so warm. If you’ve ever experienced her cooking especially her prized award winning cakes consider yourself lucky. We are all incredibly blessed to have her in our lives and I am devotedly grateful to be able to call her mom too.

10/24 an Angel was Born…

Life Lately has been so Damn Delicious that the Decision to Gatekeep my Days to intentionally Focus on Family & Friends aided in the opportunity for me to love on them exponentially.

Finally I’m Sitting Still with a Slow Saturday Share. Something to Smile back at.
Over the course of four weeks I have had one week of alone time while my guy flew back to the US for work, welcomed three different flights in and saw three separate flights out after hosting family for a week each. First we chilled with Patty and Will, (my🫶🏾 arrived back on the island with them).. Second flew in was cousin Vivian and third was my mama, bff Sakina and my Godson Zaire which is who you see here. Our time together was ❤️!
My heart is full and I am so very grateful.

There’s this meme that’s floating around on instagram that says: You are currently living at least one of the prayers you used to pray.
Many years ago when we were just dreaming about our lives on an island days like these were a big part of those thoughts.

Today 12/12 I will be celebrating the life of my mother. The first person to ever hold me lovingly close to their heart and served as my extraordinary role model throughout all of my years. She molded me in the purest form of light and without her I would not be the person or mother that I am today.
On August 7th 2024 my mom,
Hamidah Z. Abdullah
was called back to Allah and her position for having my back eternally transitioned from the physical into the spiritual form. I feel her shield over me deeply🪽✨
Thank you to everyone who held compassionate space, prayed, offered words of encouragement & condolences, embraced me with strong hugs and loved on my family. Seeing some of your faces on my most difficult day in August was moving and heartfelt. The outpouring of ❤️ from all around the world is still showing up from calls coming in from friends who dwell in other states, far away countries and also locally by those that stop by our business not just to shop but also show ❤️. Her 30 plus years of loyal customers share countless fond stories about my mother daily. Kind souls who are still dropping off plates to my pops months later are reminders from Allah of just how loved my mother was and my father is. She impacted so many people and her spirit lives on Alhumdullilah.
All of the texts, inquiries, concerns and direct messages sent my way here on instagram were all received with so much gratitude that words could not convey.
Sometimes you don’t have the words and Other times you do. Thanks to my ❤️ ones for your listening ears and also for just being there even when I don’t want to talk. Unapologetically giving myself all the time that I need and feeling all the feels.. happy & sad is one of the greatest gifts that I have ever given myself
May Allah be pleased with my mom, make her grave spacious and grant her the highest levels of jennah. 🤲🏾
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon” is a prayer from the Quran that translates to “Surely to Allah we belong and to Him we will all return.”

I have faith & dutifully pray Allah makes it so that we will embrace each other again. Until then I am walking in your legacy of everlasting ❤️

🧀🥩 = well worth the ride! plus a hot 🥨stop!
🫳🏾🪭adding some 5 below bought charm character to my string of pearls for some petite joy is so girl coded!
🌸lucked up on a pretty pink slip dress of my dreams at a thrift shop.. made my whole month and mood.
💃🏽salsa and bachata on tuesday’s because a girls gotta twirl.. even with her two left feet!
in the words of North West “No Pictures “ and I love that for me in this instance.
🎬🍿Tony the movie was a snooze fest.. yet and still #anthonybourdain = iconic 4ever!
🩺keeping up with my doctors checkups… because health is wealth.
🍲sidewalk soups session on a fall 🍂🍁day… wholefoods imho always have a good variety.
🎞️🎥🍿Verity the movie was soooooo good that I’m going to go see it again!
🧴dominican shop doobies + olaplaex oil keeps my hair happy.
✊🏾🖤power to the people… plus a round of applause by me for me… because
I 😬survived my first few weeks of adult braces and have mastered the quickness of 🪥
brushing 8x’s per day wherever whenever!

In This Instance that was by way of touch..which was encouraged by the docent.
She even suggested I snapped some selfie shots and explained to me that it’s what the artist wants. Interaction ✔️

Spent some time the last week in September admiring Solange Knowles large-scale sculpture on the New York City Skyline.

I left Chelsea Activated by The Copper
then Tripped on over to Tribeca.

I went to view:
“Voices in the Mirror,” an exhibition revisiting images by Gordon Parks through the reflections of the people and families he photographed. - Jack Shainman Gallery

I grew up gazing at many of these photographs in magazines and sometimes via tv screens. This time seeing so many up close in person and sprawled out in their vibrant grandeur evoked joy and awe. A master of photography who captures on camera the beauty and brutality of the black American experiences.
It’s open and free to the public until November 6th 2026.

•I Spied The Ladies Buying Bootleg Miu Miu on a Canal Street Corner. You Can’t Knock The Knockoff Bag Hustlers and Admirer The Shoppers For Their Fake Fly Finds😏. Quiet On The Creek🤫 Word On The Street is That There are Rich New York Women Who Love Their Fake Birkins👜

•This Year I Swapped The Fashion Shows Front Row Seat For A Cozy Corner in The
Bill Blass Category Room. He Built a Brilliant Empire on Effortless Elegance Clothing and was also a Benefactor & Trustee At The Library.

•As A Huge Fan Of Sex and the City I Walked The Famous Staircase Where Carrie Cried Over Big for Standing Her Up At the Altar. Then Ironically I Witnessed Newlyweds Celebrating Their Wedding Day with a Photo Shoot in the Same Hallway💍

•Purchased a Pair of Pants at Muji, Popped On Over To Bryant Park to See a Movie On The Lawn. Then Later I Decided on an About Face and Expeditiously Got Up On Out Of That Place! Truth is My Mind Couldn’t Calm Thinking About NYC R@ts That Roam Around After Dark In The Park 😳. Anyone that Really Really Knows Me Already Know that Decision Was Made Easily and Effortlessly.

•Picked Up $1.50 Slices of Pizza, Hopped in My Guys Work Ride. Headed Home I Witnessed a Brown Beauty Basking In Her God Given Gorgeous Glow.

•All That To Say I Have No FOMO!!!!

the Chances Of Changing The Narrative Are High Key Cool When Exercising Our Unprecedented Free Will Fashionably, Creatively and Unapologetically.

🟠The Color Of The Jumper Caught My Eye Years Ago at Elephant Trunk Vintage Flea Market in Connecticut and When I Copped It From The Dealer I Knew I’d Up cycle It One Day. I Crocheted a Pocket for It & Also Added Ribbons and a Patch to the Back. Probably Gonna Add Some Pins and Whatnot’s Over Time.

Currently Packing Up My Gear because Soon This September I’ll Be Heading Out On The Same Annual Artist’s in Residency Retreat High Up In The Mountains.

-First Fifty Secs are Some Snippets from Last Year While There Embroidering and Bottling a Borage Botanical Blend made From Flowers I Foraged in the Forest. It’s a Mix I Use For Both Therapeutic and Cosmetic Purposes.
-Last Shots Are Of Me Wearing My Jumper Variously Over The Many Months.

Popped Into Harry’s Cigar Shop for Some Sticks Boxes. Then Strolled Around The Block Where
My Guy Made His Girl Smile Big In The City Of Brotherly Love At Miista’s Shoe Sample Sale.

My Last Time At Paradigm I Viewed Paintings Hanging On The Walls…
This Time The Art Featured Was For The Feet.
