🎃👻 Something spooky is brewing… and it smells a little like compost!

Back to Earth Compost Crew is competing in Ambler Community Garden’s 7th Annual Scarecrow Contest, and we’re hoping for a W this year! 🏆

Our scarecrow is on display at Knight Park in Ambler. Voting is open now through Halloween, and votes count double when you vote in person. Ambler Fall Fest on October 17 is the perfect time to stop by, enjoy the festivities, and cast your vote!

Here’s the scoop on our scarecrow, Lowly:

Single, down-to-earth, and ready to turn over a new leaf. Proud homeowner of a cozy compost bin. Enjoys apple cores, long crawls, and meaningful decomposition. Seeking someone who loves getting dirty and growing together. Let’s see what’s bin missing!

Did you know we have our very own lil 2026 ambler scarecrow contest? One winner will be crowned in November - will @mermaidartstudiosambler hold on to the trophy? 🏆 or is it time for a new winner?

Head over to knight park and check them all out! We are so thankful for all the time, work and creativity put forth by our community members and businesses for joining in on the fun.

Many businesses have their QR code up at their storefront and you’re welcome to vote there too. But IN PERSON VOTING IS WORTH MORE.

Food Waste Prevention Week is the perfect time to spotlight The Ways Restaurant and Brewery —a local business proving that small, consistent changes can make a meaningful impact. 🌿🍻

In just one year, The Ways in Glenside has composted an impressive ≈11,000 pounds—more than 5 tons—of organic waste through our commercial composting program. Their sustainability efforts don’t stop there: spent grain is sent to a Bucks County farm to be used as cattle feed, keeping valuable nutrients in use and out of the landfill.

🥬 For The Ways team, composting quickly became part of the daily routine. Their example shows how restaurants and breweries can help prevent food waste by choosing better options for every stage of the process: use what you can, share what you’re able to, and compost what’s left.

During Food Waste Prevention Week, we’re celebrating the everyday actions that make a difference:

🥕 Planning meals and buying only what you need
🍲 Giving leftovers a second life
