Q: what are you currently reading?

📖 my current read is silvercloak by l.k. steven and I’m 57% into this and currently loving it!!!

📖 this follows our female main character, saffron killoran, as she begins the mission of her life, to infiltrate the bloodmons, a ruthless gang, in order to gain intel to bring them all down.

📖 the magic system in this is so freaking cool because we’ve got wands, spells, and enchantments. mages have a “well” inside them which is where they store their magic and this “well” can only be replenished with pleasure. that can mean a glass of wine after a long shift, pastries, good music, etc… but that same “well” can also be made stronger by pain, both physical and mental pain.

📖 the romance is between saffron and levan, the son of the bloodmoons king, and I’m looooving the budding romance between the two leads. this is a slow burn and so far it’s been exactly that!!!

📖 the fact that he’s warned people NOT to call her “filthcloak” has me giggling and his lil nickname for her??? “SILVER” I FEEL VERY VERY NORMAL ABOUT IT HAHAHHAA OMG AND HOW COULD I FORGET THE PENDANT CHANGING COLORSSSSSSS FOR HIM HDKDJDJDJDJDJDJ

📖 that all being said though, I do think that saffron is a huge dummy. every time she speaks she’s caught in a lie, she implicates herself and others and is just in general the worst double agent despite her MANY YEARS OF TRAINING????? and the insistence that she’s actually a “over analytic person” and “thinks through every possible scenario before acting” ????? WHERE????? because that part of her personality just disappeared lol

📖 all in all I’m really enjoying silvercloak and so far this is feeling like a 4 - 4.25 by @backtoreads

happy weekend!!! ⭐️ thought I would give u guys a reading update in a last, now, next format!!! this is so funny because I made this post yesterday and I actually ended up finishing on Sundays she picked flowers, so now thats a “last” book too but oh well!!!

Q: what are you reading this weekend?

what a stunning conclusion to the stonewater duology!!! This was PEAK knightcore, complete with a jousting tournament and everything (this is very important to me okay!!!). this book felt like a homecoming, I loved being back in the stonewater kingdom, reunited with the characters I grew to adore so fiercely in TKATM. 5 ⭐️

I feel a bit betrayed by this one because I was LOVING the beginning!!! i was HOOKED by the victorian setting, the characters and their cat and mouse game. but somewhere around the halfway mark we moved away from the setting I loved so much and the cat and mouse game got tired real quick. a bit too long for what it was too. 2.75 ⭐️

I will always love a horror book that explores complicated family dynamics!!! this had an eerie cottagecore feel to it as it examined a twisted mother-daughter relationship and generational trauma. 3.75 ⭐️

I picked this up last night and I’m super excited to get further into it!!! All I know about this is that it’s a witch x witch hunter romantasy and I’m sooo here for that hate/love dynamic. have you read this one? by @backtoreads

what was your favorite book that you read in July?

⭐️ mine was the wind weaver by julie johnson!!! such a breath of fresh air when it came to the romantasy genre with beautiful writing.

⭐️ I also looked this kingdom will not kill me by ilona andrews, I read this towards the end of the month and it was my first Ilona andrews!!! I loooved this one, epic fantasy with a dash of romance + it gave me huge game of thrones vibes too.

book recs based on my pantone birth chart~

recommending some books I’ve enjoyed recently that match my birth chart colors!!! this was really fun to put together and every book in here was a 4 star and above!!

I also wanted to excuse my absence from posting, it seems like cutting back on screen time AND being consistent on instagram don’t go hand in hand but I’m determined to find the right balance!!! Just bear with me until I do.

I hope everyone has been having a great weekend ⭐️ by @backtoreads

q: what book(s) are you reading this weekend?

my current read is the wind weaver by julie johnson, I picked this up during the week and this has slowly been taking over my reading life.

💌 the wind weaver follows rhea who’s a halfling, half mortal and fae, when one day she’s captured by soldiers who hate halflings like her. she’s due to be hanged but just before her execution she’s saved by a mysterious man, commander scythe.

💌 her new captor (savior??? 😏) brings her to the snowy northlands where she learns that she’s no ordinary halfling but a remnant, one who can wield elemental magic.

💌 from the start I was captivated by the gorgeous writing which is full of details which has helped me immerse myself in the rich world of anwyvn. the worldbuilding and elemental magic feels new and refreshing in the romantasy genre while still having a few genre staples like mates and a prophecy.

💌 I also loved the characters from the very start, gentle but dependable rhea. strong and caring scythe (or should I say penn…). the romance between the two has me high strung…the tension palpable on the page. their little glances and touches has me going crazy!!!!

💌 it’s soooo good!!! I love when the slow burning is slow burning!!!! i’m not even done with the first book and I have in fact already ordered the sequel 😌 by @backtoreads
