I serve in the Colorado legislature, and I joined more than 285 women lawmakers from 44 states and territories in a letter to the Speaker of the U.S. House - 128 members of Congress who sent their own demand this week. Buried in a federal transportation bill is Amendment 041, a provision that would shield rideshare companies from liability when a passenger or driver is harmed, including sexual assault, on their platforms. A New York Times investigation found more than 400,000 reports over five years - about one every eight minutes. Uber has lost two driver sexual-assault trials just this year. When they couldn’t win in our statehouses or in court, they went to Congress to change the rules - even reaching back to shut the courthouse door on survivors who haven’t yet come forward. We hold different views on many things. We do not differ on this: no corporation should be immune from accountability for sexual assault. Yesterday, we took a giant step forward in helping Colorado students. I’m proud to be a prime sponsor of HB26-1141, which was signed into law!! The law makes clear when schools deny equal access to students, adds pregnancy and parental status to the list of protected characteristics, and requires public colleges to designate Title VI coordinators and publish grievance procedures, so that students have a clear, accessible way to report discrimination and receive fair treatment. As a lifelong champion for education, I will always fight to keep our students safe, supported, and able to learn without fear—because every student deserves an equal opportunity to succeed. Institutional racism is real. In 2026, the TN institution actively disenfranchised Black communities. They have shown us that without legal constraints, they will be and are naturally prone to racism. This is our generation’s fight against the same racism we have seen for hundreds of years. These people are hell-bent on keeping them as second-class citizens. And they ask us why we don’t love our country... After 400 years, it is as much ours as it is anyone’s, if not more, given that our blood, sweat, and tears built this nation. This scene is the same scene we saw after the Civil War and in the 60s... When will it end?
