A physician, a storyteller at heart, and a lifelong admirer of powerful narratives.After my husband @badartareen recently finished shooting his first feature film, we decided to attend @mpac_national Muslim House @mpachollywoodbureau at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC. One of my favorite moments was meeting Mira Nair, @pagliji whose films—Monsoon Wedding, The Namesake, and Mississippi Masala—have beautifully captured the richness, complexity, and humanity of our stories. Her storytelling has earned global recognition for bringing nuanced, human-centered narratives about South Asian, immigrant, and global communities to audiences around the world. She also happens to be NYC mayor Zohran Mamdanis mother.I left feeling incredibly inspired. As someone who spends her days listening to patients’ stories and sharing stories through advocacy and community work, I was reminded that storytelling takes many forms.A huge thank you to @mpachollywoodbureau for putting together such an incredible event. I was truly blown away by the conversations, creativity, and sense of community in the room. Now more than ever, Muslim voices matter—and spaces like this ensure those voices are heard, celebrated, and empowered to shape the stories that move the world.Because stories don’t just entertain.
