I thought all you needed was a good microphone & amp…!

All I kept hearing about were specific model microphones or amplifiers which were considered “the best” ones, and that’s what I needed to get the classic Blues sound for amplified harmonica. But that was only the beginning of the story… not only are there so many different types of these vintage bullet microphones, including different style cartridges and elements that all give you different sonic possibilities, but there were many different types of amplifiers with different ranges of power and tone…. But that wasn’t even the biggest part of the picture!!

You can have a handful of great vintage gear, including microphones and amplifiers that people say are “the best”, but the biggest factor is going to be matching the amplifier with a microphone that works best with that particular circuit! After a couple of decades working with this vintage equipment, this is one of the things I specialize in 🎶🎙️

Please share with other players you know!! 🙌
