🌿 NATURE: THE SON WHO RETURNED
A spoken-word poem by Palmer Joseph
I have suffered…
Not the kind of suffering that makes noise,
but the kind that teaches a man
how to cry without making a sound.
The kind that puts a thousand questions in your chest
and leaves you searching for answers
in places where nobody thinks to look.
I have smiled with a broken heart.
Walked with tired feet.
Carried storms in my soul
while the world called me strong.
Oh, I have known the loneliness of the night,
the heaviness of unanswered prayers,
the silence of a room
where memories speak louder than people.
And sometimes…
Sometimes, I wondered
if even the heavens could hear me.
But when the world became too loud,
I heard something calling me.
Not a phone.
Not a human voice.
Not the applause of a crowd
or the promises of tomorrow.
It was the wind.
Whispering through the trees
like an old friend who never forgot my name.
It was the rain,
falling on my skin
as though the sky had finally found a way
to wash away the tears I could not explain.
It was the earth beneath my feet,
quietly reminding me
that even after a thousand footsteps,
she still had room for mine.
And for the first time in a long time,
I stopped running.
I stood still.
I listened.
And nature said…
Palmer, my son,
why have you wandered so far
from the place where your spirit first learned to breathe 🧘? #_badboypalmzy #nature by @badboypalmzy
