I'm honestly still processing yesterday, but I'm so thankful and honored to have had both my work and my self featured in Evan Spiegel's @specsfordevs keynote and SPECS announcement along with other amazing creators!

And the bonus was an "Ancestral Dance" project sighting! That was a collaborative project with @dunawaysmith and @dulce303 that I'm so proud of. 💜 by @badchickstudios

I'm an artist and a creative technologist.

I create interactive experiences that blur the line between digital and physical spaces, whether they're AR games, immersive stories, or location based narratives. My work is playful, personal, and an invitation to engage and explore.

Whether it's my own work or helping you build yours, I always lead with story and vision. What's the story we're telling? How should this feel? What do we want people to experience? I've been bringing it to every project for years without naming it.

And teaching? I've done it in classrooms, at hackathons, with clients learning their websites, and with community groups. I am also the family IT person 😂. Making tech accessible and less intimidating is core to my practice.

Now I'm bringing both to the forefront.

"Instant Mood Boost". #TouchDesigner experiment.

Imma be real. This has been a weird year for me, and life has been life'in. Sometimes when you're feeling down, you still have to go out into the world with a smile. I just wish it was as easy as turning a dial or flipping a switch 😂.

I've finally been delving into TouchDesigner, and I'm kinda hooked! I'm really interested in pairing projects with physical components. This is an #arduino Uno, and I'm using a potentiometer to control the frames of the video.

Venice Immersive was the best way to cap off an epic summer that started with a Knicks championship (Knicks in five)! @aishashillingford called the trip transformative, and I'm inclined to agree. I would add to the list: inspirational, restorative, and just plain FUN!

This first half of the year was rough. Life was lifin’, and I spent most of my time in survival mode. But getting to demo the @specsfordevs spectacles at the @weareagog "Smart Glasses Petting Zoo", check out immersive experiences, and participate in an AMA session with amazing artists, reminded me how much I missed creating. The art, water, food, and connections grounded me in a way I haven’t felt in a long time. And while I’m still finding my footing, this trip lit a fire under me. I’m excited to return to my creative practice (after the jet lag wears off 😆).

I’m headed to Venice Immersive this week, and I'll be wearing dual hats! (For illustration purposes, I'm using hoodies 😁). As a member of @weareagog “Gog Squad”, I'll be assisting with demos for their “Smart Glasses Petting Zoo”. The demos will enable folks to get hands on with the tech, ask questions, and hopefully get inspired to use them for future immersive projects.

And since one of the glasses shown will be the Snap Spectacles, I'll be there as a @specsfordevs Ambassador to share what I've learned building experiences for the device.

Agog also has a fantastic lineup of events and sessions on Sept 5th, and I am excited to be part of an AMA about “Choosing your tech” with two other amazing creators.

And of course, I can't wait to try the featured festival immersive experiences.

Gaussian splats are a lovely way to capture memories, and that can be utilized with the @specsfordevs.

I took this original footage of the amazing spread from my Aunt’s thanksgiving dinner a few years ago. It turned out to be the last thanksgiving she hosted before she passed.

I’m thankful to have captured it in 3D even if it’s not the best quality. But no matter how good the quality is, it's still not a replacement. I will always miss her (and her food! ). So, I played with those bittersweet feelings using a distance trigger and particle effects. The closer I get, the illusion fades away.

I got to do a bunch of R+D with splats and specs as part of @weareagog "Gog Squad"! I posted some tips and tricks I learned along the way on their discord and on the spectacles subreddit, if anybody's interested in learning more. 💜 by @badchickstudios

Lafiya Watson built Super Spy — a Spectacles lens that turns your glasses into x-ray gear.

Put them on. A secret safe appears in the room. Two minutes on the clock. The only tool you have: your hands.

She's a gamer and escape room obsessive, and it shows in the design. Now she wants to bring Super Spy back for the new version of Spectacles.

Lafiya Watson's argument: AR glasses could make us more present, not less.

The digital layer is still there. But so is the person sitting across from you. You can still be in the room, in eye contact, in the conversation. That's different from a phone in your hand.

She thinks glasses might help people step back from technology — or use it to feel more connected. And the use cases across education, medicine, and daily life that haven't reached the general public yet? They're already being built.
