Day 12: Toss 🏈

Yeet them kids!

My speed lines came out a bit messy, but I'm still happy with how this came out.

Day 11: Rescue 🛟

Screw saving the kid! Maybe I should save that naked lady! Y'know, because she's naked. She might need help or something. I should check.

If you've seen this movie, how's your back feeling? Have you taken your Aleve today?

Day 9: Ram 🐏

Are we completely serious right now?

This drawing was Taegan's suggestion. Shout-out to her for having really solid ideas.

Day 6: Ogre 👹

I didn't really want to just draw Herb cosplaying as Shrek, but the second drawing is vaguely Shrek-related.

Day 3: Miniature

It's October 3rd, and you know what that means! It's Mean Girls Day! I really struggled to connect today's prompt to the movie, but I was reminded that Janis and Damian wore matching purple tuxedos to the Spring Fling dance. So I drew me and Herb wearing them! We look great, don't we?

Day 2: Relic

This one is very special to me. As a child of the 90s, there are so many things I could have chosen as a prompt for Herb: An old school Game Boy that took like 8 double A batteries, a Nintendo Game Cube, a Tomagotchi, a Walkman. But the thing that came to mind wasn't something I grew up with or even owned. It even came out on my 13th birthday, and I've never had one, but someone very precious to me did.

I met a guy in college named Kell, and we became fast friends. He was unlike anyone I had ever met before or since, and one of the ways we bonded was by listening to music on his iPod. One of the bands he introduced me to was Holy Fuck. I have this vivid memory of sitting outside the art annex during a break I was taking from a project hearing their song "Lovely Allen" and thinking, "This song is just like him," even though I couldn't tell you why. He went on to introduce me to other things that I love, like Mystery Science Theater 3000.

As often happens with adult friendships, we lost touch. Then one day, I happened to log into Facebook after a years long hiatus to discover a message from his sister saying that he had been killed in a hit and run. I was destroyed. There was this incredible human being that I now knew I was never going to see for the rest of my life. I got into my car to go get some alcohol because I just did not want to feel anything.

As soon as I started up my car, something strange happened. A song came on the radio that I had never heard before. It was "Wherever You Will Go" by The Calling. I immediately broke down crying when the chorus hit. One of my favorite things was when Kell introduced me to new music, and it felt like he was sharing a song with me again even though I know it's a song he would probably roll his eyes at.

I don't share songs on my posts, but if you want to, go listen to "Lovely Allen" by Holy Fuck (or Holy F, as they're known commercially). It's still my favorite of their songs, and hopefully, you find that you can see the kind of person he was.
