Thanks to @jthatesjiujitsu @subtheopps and @rgvfcbjj for making this seminar happen!

Ive basically had no formal leg lock training over my ten years of training so to have someone help tighten stuff up is appreciated. Watching instructionals and testing stuff on white belts is cool and all, but sometimes a shortcut to the answers can save a shit ton of time, or sometimes we just hear a new detail or concept we hadn't considered yet that opens the flood gates!

🚨 WELL… WE HAD A LITTLE OOPSIE TODAY! 😬😂💦

As we were wrapping up a fun day with the kiddos, one of our little ones accidentally stepped on a small PVC pipe tucked away in the corner… and BOOM 💥💦 — we suddenly had WATER EVERYWHERE! 😂

Needless to say, we had to shut off the valve for the ENTIRE BUILDING 😬😬😬

Sorry, Jorge! 😂

BUT… it all worked out! Jorge made it out to the building ASAP and got everything fixed up right away. 🙌🏼🔧

And then came the BEST part…

Our AAAAAAMAZING BLACKLISTED COMMUNITY immediately jumped into action! 🖤🔥 Everyone started helping, cleaning, moving things, drying everything up, and doing whatever needed to be done.

And because of everyone’s help, we got the place cleaned up as best as we could! 🙏🏼

EVERYTHING IS DRY. NOTHING WAS DAMAGED. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Tomorrow?
🧼 DEEP CLEANING MODE: ACTIVATED. 🧼😂

We are truly, truly BLESSED to have the community we have. 🥹🫶🏼

We had the pleasure to celebrate two of our young adults today!

We’re kicking things off with our TWEEN, Herakles!

At just 12 years old, he occasionally jumps into our kids’ class, but for the most part, he’s out there training alongside the adults—and holding his own! We couldn’t be prouder of how much he’s grown in such a short time. Since starting with us just last month, his confidence, determination, and skills have improved tremendously. He trains hard every session, never gives up, and is always willing to learn.

And our Teenager!

At just 15 years old, Victor !

This young man is always learning, always leveling up, and never afraid to step outside his comfort zone. Whether he’s on the mats or cross-training, he’s constantly pushing himself to become stronger, sharper, and better every single day.

We’re very grateful to get to share your birthdays with the both of you!

Recorded some thoughts before my match for @fridaynightjiujitsu (pre match thoughts, some match highlights, and post match thoughts)

I won't write my life story down here since I go over the details in the video, but just want to put these clips up as a memory for the absolute shit show this last month has been.

Been keeping this pretty quiet but during the belting ceremony, my Grandma, the woman who raised me, wouldn't wake up.

She was taken to the hospital and was up and down for a few days before finally passing.

I grew up spending every weekend with her until I was left with them to live at their house full time.

Growing up, Grandma and I did not see eye to eye very often. Teenage Ian was often angry with her over silly things. But as I grew up, I found myself seeing her way of thinking and agreeing with her more and more. These last few years she ended up being one of the people I enjoyed talking to the most in my family. She spoke directly and honestly with me, rarely sugar-coated things and over time I had realized how tough she was.

My mother wasnt around for most of my life and when that was able to be changed, by my own decision I decided that that was something I didn't want because as far as I was concerned Grandma was all I needed.

Ive handled this pretty well all things considered, but only because she spent the last few years telling me that she was ready to die. I think she knew that I needed to be prepared for this and thats why she kept letting me know how she felt.

Either way, I am happy she finally gets to be at peace.

I unfortunately have a fight the day I get back from my trip to Arizona. So many people wilt in this scenario and despite this being one of the worst fight camps I have ever done, I dont want to be the kind of person who fails in the face of difficulties. Id rather be the person who doubles down in her honor.

I had the privilege of receiving my brown belt last night alongside the best group of people I could have asked for.

This year was a big one.

I've spoken enough about the medical issues over the last few years but the biggest thing Im proud of is the role I played in connecting this group of people.

I've met very few blackbelts here that I would have trusted my journey to and unfortunately both happened to have been on wildly different front lines, with their teams often not getting along at all.

But I had first hand experience with seeing that both these men cared about people the RIGHT way, acted selflessly with little-to-nothing in return, and mostly did what they do for the love of the game.

Today, the best people I know have all united under one banner and Im excited that our association gets to be led by these people.

We have all experienced the same shit from the same people and regardless of where we started, we all saw the same things and held the same beliefs. We dodged the same bullets and had to start over the same ways.

And now we all get to do it together.

If I was even briefly the bridge that helped make this happen, I would be proud because this group is fucking awesome.

Couldn't ask for better peers and mentors in martial arts, business and life.

And none of that could have happened without the biggest influence to it all, my wife. taken in 80/20 Jiu-Jitsu by @badparkourtutorials
