Something so absolutely special happened! The flyers I made for @riotgrrrlnyc were included in the Grrrl Germs exhibit at @daisychainfields .

When @badstaticband first started in 2021, I remember feeling like Riot Grrrl was this one person island I was on in NYC. It was a movement that happened 30 years ago and even though I felt so connected, it didn’t feel like anyone in this city felt that way.

@thisiswilsie and I hosted our very first meet up in 2021 in McCarren Park. It was a zine swap, and I remember feeling so bummed because NO ONE showed up.

I didn’t stop believing that community was out there, so I kept searching. Bad Static was asked to play Riot Grrrl Fest hosted by @final.girl.records but the band at that point was falling apart, and I wanted to find a way to be involved. I held another zine swap, and that’s how I met @cecilqyang from @catcrashband . They later told me that show is what inspired them to start their band.

2 years later the band was a distant memory, and it made me miserable. I decided enough is enough, and that night I saw @eevieechoes was playing a secret show. I went and that night changed EVERYTHING. The first band I saw was Sludge Bunny and @undercover_amy6 who later became my bandmate across two projects, and my incredible and wonderful girlfriend, was their guitarist. But most importantly I met @wetbangz from @tabgrrrltheband , another riot grrrl who forced me to restart the project. Together we hosted first Riot Grrrl NYC meetup in Washington Square. It was zine making in the park, and 40 people came out. The grrrlz from @lostgrrrlfound were there, and ALL the way from England @loudwomen showed up.

Over time we got more bands involved, which led to hosting the @hccoleman panel that was shared by @mskathleenhanna .

I’m so grateful that I never stopped believing in Riot Grrrl and so grateful for everyone who helped me on this journey. Thank you to my wonderful bandmates Amy, Courtney @drummerfry_ , and Karole @kahyroll ! And thank you @astriasuparak for including our flyers! #riotgrrrl by @badstaticband

Never thought I'd agree with @sentedcruz but here we are in 2026.

Funny how they won't talk about gas prices or what the Republican controlled government has done for the past two years, instead they focus on my Halloween costume.

Kinda seems like a distraction to me 🤷🏼‍♀️

Go vote, trans rights forever.
