For almost 9 years we have lived this wonderful nomadic life. Living in and out Airbnb’s, hotels (Marriott ambassador elite status) corporate housing, crashing with friends and even living in our Airstream. The journey has been a fulfilling, awe inspiring experience, offering connections with people all around this beautiful country and even around the world. It’s the experience I always dreamed of as a kid and to do it with the person I love makes this all seem surreal. This week we are laying roots on a charming property in Massachusetts in a home built in 1760. This week we finally moved in. During the short week we had to unpack we experienced a prelude to the gatherings, love and friendship we know will continue for the rest of our lives. So many of you visited, helped move furniture and unpack boxes. We ate a lot of pizza, had a birthday celebration for my mom, celebrated our first easter and egg toss, we drank, smoked cigars and laughed. This home isn’t just ours; it’s for all of you who have been with us throughout all the travels, checking in on us, letting us sleep on your guest bed, my family who supported this unique life we chose and always had room for our endless totes for storage. Our home is your home! We mean that. We want to share this all with you just as you have shared so much with us. Cheers to the next chapter of our story. Spain 🇪🇸. We experienced a delightful blend of architectural marvels through Barcelona and neighboring cities. The serene beaches of Costa Brava and the majestic mountains of the Pyrenees up in Andorra. 10/10 would recommend a visit. #spain #lasagradafamilia #barcelona #costabrava #andorra taken in Barcelona, Spain by @baduini

10 days ago Dave picked me up at the airport after a work trip. When we got home he said, “something happened a couple of hours ago,” and then opened the bedroom door to show me a very scared (and very smelly) little puppy he had found in the street. We took her to the vet to see if she was chipped (she was!) and then waited patiently for her owners to reach out to claim her. Spoiler alert: they never called. So now, after a mandatory waiting period and her first round of shots, she’s officially ours! We’re working on peeing outside and teaching her that charging cables are not chew toys. She’s learning about the beauty of sticks from Indy, and that (most) people are nice, though she’s still a super shy girl when she meets someone new. Meet Roo, we’re all obsessed with her and her sweet little loving soul. by @baduini

It’s impossible to find the right words to share that my dad crossed over to join my mom yesterday after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was pretty damn excited to be able to join my mom on the other side. Even knowing this difficult end, he said he would have chosen this life over and over again, and that he had no regrets.
Like many relationships, ours was... complicated. Both being intensely complex, we found a lot of reasons to disagree over the course of our lives. We had a lot of fun challenging each others opinions.
I see so much of him in myself - the parts that make me challenge the status quo, being contrary just for the sake of being contrary, and being unwavering in my beliefs. Those parts all come from him. Those parts also made us butt heads in a frustrating (for me) and hilarious way. He secretly took pleasure in pushing my buttons, and always had a grin on his face during our heated conversations, often over a glass of single malt scotch. We made great fun of disagreeing, and humor was always at the forefront.
In the end, our relationship was nothing but love and respect. He needed me. I needed him to need me. And so we both softened and said the things we’ve been meaning to say to each other (but usually too stubborn to say) for decades.
“I love you” was spoken daily. I was able to thank him for the incredible opportunities he gave me, and to all his children. He gave us the gift of passion, and encouraged all of us to follow our dreams, no matter the cost. He was our biggest champion.
A man who was always careful with his words, and careful about over-praising, he let me know how proud he was to claim us as his kids. The weight of that will stay with me always.
There’s comfort in my belief that he and mom are on a golf course together, sharing a sunset and a couple gin and tonics. The love they shared will surely transcend their physical bodies.
I am heartbroken and happy in the same breath, the idea that they’re together again softens this massive blow.
Thanks for everything, Papa. You worked hard to make a life for your family, and you succeeded in every way. We can never thank you enough. by @baduini

4 weeks ago today, our favorite people travelled to Maine to watch us say I do. Pictures of my mom were tied to my bouquet so she could walk down the aisle with me and my dad. We laughed hard, we loved hard, we canoed and almost tipped the dock over, and my husband was, as usual, the sweatiest guy on the dance floor. I have never been more in love, and felt so loved 🤍 taken in Sebasco Harbor Resort & Golf Club by @baduini

This is a long post, and we're going to talk about death.

There's a notion of being in the right place at the right time. I was in Kansas City, making a show about getting your shit together before you die, and on our 3rd shoot day, the unthinkable happened. My mother died.

My whole existence in that moment was completely, and utterly shattered. She died, and I was making a TV show. I wasn't there to send her off. My mama. The closest thing I'll ever experience to God was knowing her. The first sound I ever heard was the beating of her heart. She was my goddess. She is still my goddess. She was the most influential person in my life.

How does one come back to work after that? Well, if one is as lucky as I am, one comes back to work on something that allows them to process the massive breadth of emotions that come with grief. One comes back to work on a show about how dealing with death allows you to LIVE. That is The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. It's a conversation we're all afraid to have, but should be having. It's also a reminder that we can talk about this gently - and we can LAUGH about it, too.

Now, for the shoutouts. @iamjjduncan, our showrunner and fearless leader. She gave me time to take care of my family, and then welcomed me back with love. She held me through this journey, where we were both grieving, crying, and laughing, and putting that energy into creating this show.

@katarinablom who took it upon herself to pull me aside over our lunch breaks when I was, at times, paralyzed in grief. She would sit with me, sometimes in the dark, sometimes in complete silence, and hold me in a way that let me completely fall apart, and then get my shit together.

@svenson_johan, and @engsroom whose warmth and love would shake me out of whatever personal hell I was in, to be human. To tell stories, tell jokes, make me LAUGH, and also ply me with wine and epically curated charcuterie plates with new-to-them delicacies like Triscuit crackers and cream cheese.

I realize I've said very little about this show. The love behind it is enough for me. It all comes across on screen, I promise. Please watch. It is so, so fucking good. by @baduini

New show alert!! 👀If you have questions about personal finance, this one’s for you.

I swear @ramit didn’t pay me to say this - I have never been less stressed about money since working with him.

My first true love, my biggest fan , my ultimate safe space and confidant, my moral compass — the one who taught me empathy, compassion, and that a swift kick in the balls would set any man straight. My mother. Madre. Mama. Yesterday we lost her. Yesterday she won her fight to the other side.

Those that knew her know the depth of this loss. Her body was not a kind place for her soul anymore, and while our family is utterly heartbroken and devastated, we know her spirit is with us all, and that her light continues to shine.

Raise a glass to Mama Lisa today. Tell a joke. Hug someone you love extra tightly. Listen to your favorite song. Create art. Help a stranger. Do a crossword puzzle in pen. Spend time with your hands in the dirt weeding your garden. Read a delicious book. Research something you’re curious about. Say I love you too many times. Those were some or her favorite things.

My heart is broken beyond words, but the gratitude that I spent a lifetime being fiercely loved by her somehow makes it okay.

My beautiful, sweet mama. I love you love you love you love you love you. by @baduini

4 years of adventures with this guy. And this one led us here, to a lighthouse on a cliff side where he told me to look out at the view so he could get a drone shot, like he’s done on every single adventure we’ve had. But this time, when I turned around, he was on one knee. My adventure man for life. I love you @dayvudp. by @baduini
