In a city where power dinners and showroom launches often define the watch scene, a small pizza joint in the Lower East Side is quietly rewriting the rules. Welcome to Scarr’s Pizza, the unlikely epicenter of a new, style-forward wave of watch collectors—a movement as fueled by vintage obsessions as it is by pepperoni slices and late-night hangs.

At the center of it all is Mike Nouveau, the TikTok-famous dealer who’s turned his feed—and his friend group—into a platform for horological influence. Flanking him are an eclectic crew: Scarr Pimentel, the owner of Scarr’s and a serious vintage Breguet devotee; Christiano Wennmann, the tattooed head pizza maker with a penchant for neo-vintage Cartier and Piaget; Bailey Anderes, a 23-year-old jeweler rocking JAR watches and “pirate core” steampunk flair; and Phil Toledano, artist and co-founder of Toledano & Chan, whose taste for stone dials and “geezer watches” helped spark a new sub-genre of collecting.

Together, they’ve transformed Scarr’s into a clubhouse where perpetual calendars, stone dials, and ‘70s disco watches are debated like stats in a fantasy draft. But this isn’t about snobbery. It’s about style, surprise, and a shared sense of discovery.

While the traditional world of watch collecting is still catching up, this crew is already several moves ahead—elevating forgotten models, reviving overlooked brands like Breguet and Franck Muller, and proving that the next chapter of collecting belongs to those who color outside the lines.

A TALK WITH @bailey_ss02
For Bailey, watch collecting is less about ownership than conversation: with the past, with craftsmanship, and with the communities that keep these stories alive. His universe moves between classic design, obscure passions, and a deep sense of curiosity.

1. Conversations with the past
The beauty of collecting old things is that you get to pick up the mantle from all the previous owners before you. I’m fascinated by the past and the times we can never experience firsthand. Vintage watches are not only imbued with the rich history and evolution of the brand, but also with that of the former wrists that wore them.

2. Quality
True quality is something you can feel and recognise immediately. I try to curate my lifestyle around this principle. In an age of fast consumerism, I want the opposite and hold my audio equipment, perfumes, shoes, jewelry, and clothing to the highest standard of skilled craftsmanship and artisanal creation. It’s about taking time with things, no cutting corners.

3. Reappropriating the classics
My taste gravitates towards traditionally “grandpa watches” such as Blancpain, Breguet, and IWC. They are unapologetically distinct and match my personal style because they are very classic in their design language and ethos, but complicated in their conception.

4. Curiosity for the obscure, untapped, undiscovered
Many people are content in their own bubble. I pride myself on my earnest commitment to discovering niche interests and learning everything I can about them. There is so much to learn and so many rabbit holes to go down. Recently, it’s been birdwatching, lock picking, and antique arms and armour. The only way you can be ahead of the curve is to actually branch out, set yourself apart, and lead with unapologetic curiosity.

Question: How did you first break into the fashion world?

“I got a job as a fashion editor because I had left a comment on some article on Instagram and I kind of called him out. I was like “you’re missing some stuff here” And his editor saw the comment and was like, do you want to work for me? And mind you, he’s based in Berlin, and I was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Very funny. I ended up working at Highsnobiety because of that.”

Question: What’s something that changed how you think about clothing entirely?

“My roommate has a hand loom, a shuttle loom, where he makes his own fabric and then makes his own clothing. It takes hours, hours. He spent 90 hours on a shirt. That is how clothes should be made. And that shirt will last long after he’s dead. You can feel the amount of effort that goes into items. And it’s a very empathetic thing to experience when you can tell just how much work and time and effort, blood, sweat, and tears went into making it a thing.”

Question: What’s a belief about fashion that people might misunderstand about you?

Pretentiousness and passion are often misconstrued. I am passionate about what I like, that is not pretentiousness. Slow fashion is really interesting to me. And I now gravitate towards these designers that have no social media, no websites. A lot of the designers that I like only allow one store per country to stock their items. There are no photos online at retail. It’s like, it’s very like, there’s an allure of elitism and pretentiousness and gatekeepingness, but it’s okay, I think. It’s not for everyone but…”

Question: What draws you to older aesthetics?

“It’s almost like nostalgia. Whether it’s medieval or like Ancient Sumeria or, you know, name it. I find it wildly interesting, and that is also why I dress kind of like this. You can kind of look at someone and know what they believe in or what they are interested in just based on how they dress.”
