I’m a bookstagrammer, BUT… 🤷🏻‍♀️✨

I was inspired by my sister in law, @totallybookedbecca to do this!
This is friendly reminder that the person you see on the other side of the screen is a real person. I contain multitudes, and so do YOU, and that deserves to be celebrated! ✨💕
When I started this account (almost a year ago!!) I had no idea what to do with it. I felt like there’s always a new trend to follow, a new book to read, or something that I could be doing better… and then I realized that I’m not a book reading machine - I never have been and never will be - and you cannot put me in a box! There’s already too much comparison on the internet and I’m choosing not to participate. We’re all so much more than what you see on your feed!

Oh hey! Remember me?

I unintentionally took the summer off of booksta. I fully anticipated keeping up with reading and my account through the summer, but life just.. lifed? 😬 whoops!

I wish I could say that I read a lot this summer, but unfortunately I went through a HUGE slump, and that probably contributed to not being active on here as well.

What did I miss, besties? How was your summer? I MISSED Y’ALL! PLEASE share the tea on what I missed on booksta this summer! I’m hoping to catch up on everyone’s posts ASAP and make up for lost time. Thanks for being patient. 🥰

Road-trip ready! 🚗

Headed on a special family trip to the mountains in BC for a week, and here are some of the things I’ll be taking on the road with me!

💜 Headphones for audiobooks (and if the kids get too crazy 🤪)
💜 Sunnies and a hair clip
💜 A puzzle book! I love the OG Wordle, so I was excited to pick this up at Winners! I will also be bringing Murdle, but that’s not pictured here.
💜 My trusty Kindle! I was fortunate to recieve an ARC of Romantic Hero by @kirsty_greenwood, and I’m excited to dive in! Pub date is June 16!
💜 Our Perfect Storm - I’m about 75% in and really liking it so far! Carley has a way of making the settings of her books come alive in my mind.

Wish me luck and be sure to ask me how I’m doing after a 16 hr road trip with 2 young kids. 😂 Prayers needed.

May marked my 1-year Bookstaversary!
I’m so grateful to be part of this little corner of the internet. The people I’ve connected with here have been so welcoming, inspiring, and supportive. I’ve loved chatting with you all about books, hobbies, shows, crafts, and everything in between. 💕

When I turned 30, I told myself I would spend time reconnecting with who I am. After having kids, it’s easy to lose a bit of your identity. Bookstagram brought me back to a piece of myself that had been sitting and waiting to be rediscovered! Turns out I’ve always been a bookworm. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So thank you for being here and for being a part of this journey! I can’t wait to see what the next year of Bookstagram brings! 🥰

Once and Again by Rebecca Serle 🎟️✨
If you had the opportunity to go back and change one moment in your life, would you?

Once and Again was my first Rebecca Serle book, and I really enjoyed it!

The story pulled me in with intrigue surrounding the mysterious ticket that lets our FMC, as well as all of the women in her family, go back in time to redo a moment in their lives.

This book ultimately got me thinking about how one small choice can completely change the course of a life, and I loved how the book explored those choices through family, grief, and love.

Thought-provoking, emotional, and a little magical, this is a great read if you love stories that leave you saying “what if?”

April R.E.P.O.R.T. 🌷

Reading: Currently reading Once & Again by Rebecca Serle and enjoying! This is my first book by this author and I’m loving the magical realism. ✨

Eating: Definitely had a sweet tooth this month. I’ve especially been loving dirty sodas, banana flavored things, and alani’s.

Playing: My reading progress this month has taken a bit of a nose dive due to rediscovering my love for Stardew. Who’s played this game?!

Obsessing: Noah Kahan’s new album has been on repeat in my car and in my head at all times!!

Recommending: My bestie had a baby recently and I got to fly out a few weeks ago to meet the little peanut and have some solid girl time with her! We watched all the girly shows, did puzzles and crafts! 💕

Treating: Carley Fortunes new book comes out in May!! I’m freaking out a bit. I’m still a bit bummed I didn’t get an ARC, but nevertheless I’m gonna support my fave Canadian author. Can’t wait to dive in!

NO MATTER WHAT ✍🏻❤️‍🩹 by @carabastone

What a beautiful, heartfelt story!
This was my first book by Cara Bastone and will not be my last. Her characters felt so real and complex. Roz is my favorite type of FMC - scatter-brained, imperfect, messy, and hilarious.
The journey Roz and Vin take in this book is so raw and emotional. It’s a beautiful portrayal of how to rebuild after experiencing trauma, and how trauma affects our relationships and identity. The way they still showed up for each other in the darkness and uncertainty was very tender and emotional.
Not only did I love the two main characters, but the side characters were just as deeply thought out and it made for a great, well-rounded story. I highly recommend you check this one out. ♥️
I will now and forever be a Cara Bastone fan!

Happy Sunday! 💛
I hope everyone had a great weekend. My kids spring break is officially over tomorrow and they’re back to school, which means today will just be prep for the week ahead.

Next up! ✨

It’s finally time to start a VERY overdue ARC (sorry NetGalley).
This will be my first Cara Bastone book and I’m emotionally preparing as we speak. I’ve heard nothing but great things about her books so far, but I have also heard that they can be emotional rollercoasters! 🎢

I may not be active this Easter weekend as I’ll be spending time with both sides of the family. I hope you guys have a restful long weekend. 🥰

Hi friends! Happy weekend ☀️
Believe it or not, we got SNOW in Sask this week. I thought it was supposed to be spring now?! 😩
All I’ve been doing lately is daydreaming of warm, sunny days where the birds are chirping and the sky is blue!

This yellow stack makes me think of brighter days. 💛🌻
