FADE INTO COSMIC DARKNESS On Thursday, October 22nd we continue to CINERGIZE. We invite Carpet (F.L.H.P) as our headliner for a 2-hour long DJ set inspired by the film Mandy (2018) by Panos Cosmatos. She has taken us on deep cinematic and emotive journeys with her party series Mess is Lore that fully embraces what it is to be human - the good, the bad, and the outright strange. There would be none better to blast us into the cosmic darkness that is this film. She is supported by Peter Fonda who will be our opening hour. They are a true head in the NY underground focusing in on a social, therapeutic, and embodied approach to sound. Fonda understands the assignment, the music, and the importance of good sound having built speakers with Jim Toth and collaborating extensively with MoMA PS1. 3D wizard HZRD will be controlling the visuals once again. Expect liquid acid to drip from the screen directly into your eyes. Ticket link in bio. Limited space available. If you cannot get tickets online for whatever reason - please DM us so we can make sure you can get inside. So let’s talk about the film, aka LSD - The Movie. Panos Cosmatos highlights the beauty and horror of the 1970’s - heavy metal soundscapes and design, fantasy and sci-fi illustration, psychedelics, and of course the cults and serial killers. The film embodies both the peaceful calm and the eery isolation of living in the woods with a bedroom exposed by windows on all sides. People talk a lot about crime in big cities but the kind of freaks that live in the middle of nowhere…now that’s something to lock your doors about. A place where no one will hear your screams. Also who would be better to embody the rage and revenge in this film other than NICK FREAKIN CAGE. He gives it an extra campy feel that the film really calls for. Jóhann Jóhannsson scores this film perfectly with chilling and hair raising sounds that flow through feelings of the deep calm and comfort of love, the immense beauty of the protagonists’ woodland surroundings, and the betrayal, fear, an taken in Hell On Wheels by @bake_some_bread

PRIMAL DREAM /// OCTOBER 9 We return to @bake_some_bread for another journey into the deeper corners of electronic music. @cecilioslowlife Leading this edition is Cecilio, a Spanish DJ, selector and co-founder of Slow Life, whose musical identity was shaped between Córdoba and Berlin. Known for his deep record digging and immersive, long-form sets, his sound moves freely through house, techno, breaks and hypnotic grooves. @paolo_msc Joining him is Paolo Mosca, Italian producer, composer and DJ whose emotionally driven approach blends deep atmospheres and hypnotic rhythms with elements of House, Trance and Ambient. Kiyoshi · Sammir · Minim · Behrooz complete the lineup for a night dedicated to immersion, movement and sound. PARADISE WAS FOUND… Every month, we choose one film and build an entire sensory experience around its world. And for our first one, we chose The Beach. Danny Boyle’s 2000 cult classic — from the same director who gave us Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. And if you know those films, you know Boyle has always understood the power of an incredible soundtrack. The Beach is no exception. Its music was scored by Angelo Badalamenti and supervised by Pete Tong, with original music from Orbital and New Order — and, of course, “Pure Shores” by All Saints, produced by the late great William Orbit, which soundtracks that sexy, unforgettable bioluminescent swimming scene. Celebrating this film right now feels especially poignant following Orbit’s passing — maybe he’s found some paradise of his own. So, next Thursday, August 20th, we’re building our own. Join us at The Bakery for a night celebrating the music and world of The Beach, with sets from myself, Secret Grapes, and Malex inspired by the film; video art by The Hefker Girl; food by Julie Hill; drinks by Sacred Software; and custom aromas by Nick Wong.
