We are so excited to introduce our Nutcracker guest choreographer Jaimee Beard
.
Some of you might recognize her because she taught for Balance a few years back. We love Miss Jaimee!
.
Jaimee Beard is a versatile artist and educator who brings a depth of experience, impact, and industry connection that extends far beyond what can be captured in a few short paragraphs. She has been in the dance industry for over eighteen years, choreographing, teaching, and serving dancers across multiple states. Jaimee holds two degrees in dance and, with a passion for progressing the arts, has also pursued arts administration—managing events and concerts for nonprofit organizations and launching programs and initiatives within schools and communities.
.
Jaimee began her dance journey in competitive Irish dance and expanded her training to include jazz, ballet, modern, contemporary, hip-hop, tap, folk, and world dance forms. She has performed in a variety of professional and community projects, including Stadium of Fire, Real Salt Lake, Disneyland, Universal Studios, World Folk Fest, and with the Salt Lake City Sensationals football team. Jaimee has also contributed as Programming Director for SALT Contemporary Dance and launched dance and spirit programs in North Carolina schools, sharing her knowledge with dancers of all ages and abilities.
.
Based in Utah, Jaimee continues to teach, choreograph, adjudicate, and mentor dancers throughout the state. She is passionate about using dance to build confidence, connection, and empowerment, and draws from her own experiences with mental and physical health challenges to advocate for healthy, joyful, and sustainable dance practices.

We are so excited to have Miss Jaimee choreographing our Nutcracker soloist and specialty groups❤️ by @balancedancestudio

We had so much fun learning this combo from the amazing @islajean. We filmed it 3 times trying to get it perfect but there are bloopers in every one! We think Dolly Parton would’ve loved it any way. Hope you enjoy! 😂😂😂 by @balancedancestudio

She trained extensively under Colleen West, and was an original member of her tap company “Foot Poetry” for over 10 years. She has also trained under Rusty Frank, Dianne Walker, Savion Glover, and more.
.
Wendi holds her degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where she graduated with University Honors in English and Dance Teaching. In 2019 she debuted her first full-length tap choreography, “A Very Jazzy Nutcracker,” which is a full-length tap dance version of the Nutcracker set to jazz music. It has become an annual holiday favorite in Utah. She produces 2-3 tap dance concerts per year, which always sell out. Wendi loves to continue to push herself artistically and her latest tap production “Rhythm of the Lion”draws inspiration from the majestic spirit and pulsating beats of the savannah and the courage, unity, and beauty of the animal kingdom.

Introducing… Miss Katy!

Hi! My name is Katy Coles, and I’m so excited to be teaching dance! I’ve been dancing since I was four years old, and dance has been such a special part of my life ever since. My favorite styles to dance and teach are jazz and contemporary.

I’ve been teaching for four years, and I absolutely love getting to share my passion for dance with my students. One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching each girl grow in confidence, discover her own style, and truly fall in love with dance. Seeing their excitement and watching them accomplish something they’ve worked hard for is one of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher! 🩰✨

Outside of the studio, I love spending time with my husband, Jordan 🥰. We’ve been married for two years and are high school sweethearts! When I’m not dancing or teaching, I love making memories with him and enjoying time together.

I’m so grateful to be able to do something I’ve loved since I was little and share that love of dance with the next generation of dancers! ✨

This is Katy’s fourth season with Balance. Katy teaches Jazz 2, 3, 4 & 7 💚 by @balancedancestudio
