Finding balance in fitness, wellness & life ✨
Low-tox living • Healthy habits • Growth
Sharing what’s helped me along the way 🤍
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Welcome to Balanced with Brooke 🤍

After a lot of encouragement from friends (and a little push outside my comfort zone), I finally decided to create a space dedicated to something I’m truly passionate about: balanced wellness and learning how to live a healthier, more intentional life.

Over the years, I’ve become more intentional about how I care for myself — mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The more I’ve learned, the more I’ve realized that wellness isn’t about perfection. It’s about making small, sustainable choices that help us become healthier, stronger, and more balanced.

One quote that has always stuck with me is:

“When you know better, you do better.”

That mindset is really at the heart of this page. I want to keep learning, growing, and making better choices as I learn — and share some of what I discover along the way.

Here you’ll find a little bit of everything that inspires me:

✨ Fitness & movement
🥗 Nutrition & healthy living
🌿 Wellness
🏡 Low-tox living
🧠 Personal growth & mindset
💛 Parenting
🌸 Navigating midlife

I’m not here because I have all the answers. I’m here because I love learning, and one of my greatest joys is encouraging and cheering others on along the way. If something I’ve learned can help make someone else’s journey a little easier, then it’s worth sharing.

My hope is that this becomes a place where we can learn, grow, and celebrate progress together — one healthy habit at a time.

I’m so glad you’re here. Welcome to Balanced with Brooke. 🤍

I think I used to believe “balance” meant having everything figured out.

The perfect routine. The perfect habits. Doing all the right things, all the time.

The older I get, the more I realize that’s not what balance looks like at all.

For me, it’s learning to pay attention to what I need in the season I’m in — and giving myself permission for that to change.

I’m still learning. Still growing. Still figuring out what works for me. And that’s a big part of why I started this page. 🤍

There’s no perfect formula. Just keep choosing what helps you feel a little more like you.

Come grow with me. 🌿

I love learning more and more about nutrition, and I love sharing what I learn with other people. But I should probably tell you now… this is not going to be the page you come to for endless elaborate recipe ideas. 😂

One of the best things I’ve learned about nutrition is to get comfortable with being a little boring.

I eat a lot of the same meals over and over again. I find foods and meals I enjoy, that make me feel good, and that work for my life—and then I repeat them.

Do I mix things up? Of course. Do I eat out, have dessert, order pizza, and enjoy foods simply because I want them? Absolutely.

But most of the time, my nutrition is pretty simple.

For me, consistency matters a whole lot more than perfection.

Nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated. Find what works for you. Keep learning. Keep it simple. And leave room for the ice cream. 😉

Come grow with me. ♡

Some days the motivation just isn’t there. And that’s okay! 🤍

Motivation comes and goes, but building the habit of showing up for yourself is what makes the difference.

Movement doesn’t have to look the same every day. Some days it’s a full workout, some days it’s a walk, and some days it’s just 10 minutes with your favorite music turned up. 💪

Today’s 10-minute workout:

💪 10 squats
💪 10 reverse lunges (5 each leg)
💪 8–10 push-ups
💪 20 Russian twists (10 each side)
💪 45 seconds jump rope

Repeat 2–3 rounds, resting as needed. Modify the movements to fit your level!

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. A little movement still counts.

SAVE this one for a day you’re short on time or just not feeling it! 🤍

People spend their whole lives looking for a place that feels like home.
I married mine 🤍

25 years together. 20 years married.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the quiet kind of love. The kind that shows up, works hard, puts family first, and doesn’t need recognition.

Not flashy. Not perfect. Just steady, selfless, and real.

One of God’s greatest blessings in my life. ❤️

I put together a FREE Balanced Target Guide with even more of my favorite Target finds for food, wellness + home.

Every product in the guide is something I’ve personally purchased and would buy again. 🤍

Organic or conventional—I wash both. 🍓🍎🍇

If you’ve ever wondered how to wash fruit or whether washing produce with baking soda + water actually does anything, this is the method I personally use.

I mix baking soda into water until it’s dissolved, add my fruit, and let sturdier fruits soak for about 10–15 minutes. Then I rinse everything really well under running water and let it dry completely before storing.

And apparently I’ve been onto something. 😉

A 2026 review of 47 peer-reviewed studies looked at different methods for washing pesticide residues from fruits and vegetables. The research found that baking-soda soaks can help reduce some pesticide residues on produce.

That doesn’t mean it removes everything—and how much is removed varies depending on the produce, pesticide and washing method—but I thought it was pretty cool to see research behind something I’ve already been doing.

And this is not an “only buy organic” post.

Buy the fruits + veggies that work for you and your family. Organic, conventional or a mix of both. There is absolutely no need to make eating produce more complicated. 🤍

For me, washing it well is just one simple step I can take when I bring it home.

Wash the fruit. Eat the fruit. 😉🤍

You do remember this is a BALANCED page, correct? 😂🍔

I talk a lot about cooking at home, choosing quality ingredients and making better choices when we can.

But I also live in the real world.

Work, school, sports, road trips, vacations…sometimes convenience wins. And when I need fast food, I’m paying attention to the places making changes I actually want to support.

So I have to give Steak ’n Shake some credit. 👏

From beef-tallow fries to grass-fed, grass-finished beef—and now, as of today, changes to their buns—I LOVE seeing a major fast-food chain take a closer look at its ingredients and sourcing.

Am I saying a burger + fries is suddenly a health food? No.

Do changes like these influence where I’ll spend my money when I need something quick? Absolutely.

Just ask my boys how many times I made them hunt down a Steak ’n Shake while we were traveling this summer. 😂

Our choices as consumers matter. I hope we keep seeing more restaurants listen and give us more options.

Not perfection. Better choices when we have choices. That’s balance to me. 🤍

Would changes like these influence where you choose to eat?

Bringing back an old trend because it felt like a good time to make sure we’re all on the same page around here. 😂

Consider this your official follow-or-unfollow warning.

I’m going to talk about wellness, strength, habits, lower-tox living, faith, family, life in my 40s—and apparently my strong dislike of coffee. 😂

I’ll probably overshare. I’ll definitely cheer you on. I will cry over basically everything. Happy? Cry. Proud? Cry. Sweet commercial? Probably cry. 😂

And I’ll encourage you to question things you’ve always done simply because…you’ve always done them.

And yes, some of these are definitely going to need their own posts eventually. 👀

I’m still learning, still growing, and still figuring a lot of it out right alongside you. 🤍

So…which one surprised you most? Or which one made you think, “Yep. I’m staying.” 😂

The more I share about lower-tox living, the more messages I get asking, “What do you use?” “What should I buy?” “What should I swap first?” 🤍

And trust me—I have recommendations coming. 😅

But before I start sharing more products, I wanted to share the mindset behind all of this, because I think it matters even more than what brand of shampoo, laundry detergent, or cookware you buy.

I’m still learning too. I don’t have a perfectly “low-tox” home, and I’m not trying to create one. I still buy things I’m probably “not supposed to.” My kids still eat Chick-fil-A. 😂 We eat out. We live our lives.

For me, this is about becoming more aware of what we put in our bodies, on our bodies, and around our bodies—and then making informed changes where they make sense for our family.

No panic-purging. No throwing away hundreds of dollars of products you already own. No trying to change your entire life by Tuesday.

Use what you have. Learn as you go. Swap things as they run out.

Even if it takes years.

I’ll be breaking all of this down in future Low-Tox 101 posts—personal care, food, cookware, cleaning products, plastics, and plenty more—along with the products I actually use and recommend.

And please remember: what works for me may not be what works for you. My goal is to share what I’m learning, hopefully save you some of the time, money, and trial-and-error, and help you decide what matters most in your home.

Perfection was never the goal. Awareness is. 🤍

When you know better, you can do better—one choice at a time.

What do you want “class” on first? 👇

The older I get, the more I realize that growth doesn’t always look like doing more.

Sometimes it looks like taking better care of myself. Resting without guilt. Protecting my time and energy. Letting my priorities shift as life changes. And being willing to start something new—even when I’m not very good at it yet. 😅

I’m learning that I can be grateful for who I am and how far I’ve come, while still wanting to grow.

I don’t have to have it all figured out. And I’m definitely not too old to learn, get stronger, change my mind, or be a beginner again.

Still learning. Still growing. Still becoming. 🤍

What are you learning in this season of life?

When your next-door neighbor is also your “wanna try making this?” friend. 😂🌿

I’ve been seeing fire cider everywhere lately and have been so curious about it, so yesterday we finally decided to try our hand at making our own!

A whole lot of chopping, some very interesting smells 😂, and two jars filled with hope… and possibly a little fear. 🤣

I love finding simple ways to be more intentional about what we’re putting into our bodies, especially heading into cold and flu season. And apparently everything is more fun when your neighbor is right next door and willing to experiment with you. 🤎

Now we wait! Anyone else made fire cider before? 😅
