Redefining what it means to train like a dancer 🩰

To me, a “ballet body” isn’t about being smaller. It’s about building a body that is strong, capable, mobile, and resilient.

Ballet Body Design takes the principles I’ve learned through years of being a professional dancer and brings them into Pilates. Control, precision, strength, mobility and intentional movement.

Hi, I’m Ashley 🤍

I’m a professional ballerina and 450 hour comprehensively certified Pilates instructor, and movement has pretty much been my entire life.

Years of dancing professionally have shaped the way I think about training and taking care of my body. Pilates and strength training have become such an important part of that, helping me build strength, work through injuries, and feel my best both in and outside of the studio.

I created Ballet Body Design to share my approach to movement and everything I’ve learned along the way. You’ll find lots of Pilates, strength training, mobility, wellness, and a little bit of life mixed in too.

Never skip your ab warm-up 🔥

Most people like to save core for the end of their workout, but I prefer to start with it. Waking up my deep core first helps me feel more connected and supported before moving into heavier exercises and targeting other muscle groups.

Think of it as switching your core “on” before asking the rest of your body to work 💪

This year, I’ve really prioritized making sure I’m actually fueling my body with what it needs, especially when it comes to protein. I try to build every meal around a solid protein source, and reach for higher quality, whole foods and I’ve noticed such a difference in my energy and way less of an urge to snack throughout the day

Progress isn’t built in your comfort zone ⚠️

This off-season I have more time to try new things and focus on building muscle. My current routine:

2–3x strength + conditioning
3x Pilates

Strength training gives me the load I need to build muscle and power, while Pilates builds control, stability and strength through range. For me, the two complement each other perfectly.

My movement varies weekly, but consistency is always the goal.

No reformer? No problem ;)

Taking some of my favorite reformer movements I regularly teach to the mat. Same principles, different setup.

All you need is a pair of sliders (or a couple of rags), some weights + a booty band.

The mat provides a great opportunity to focus on stability, control + intentional movement. You don’t need a reformer to train like you’re on one. 🤍 by @balletbodydesign
