We are incredibly proud to celebrate our newest alumna, Emma Jacobs, as she begins an exciting new chapter with Nashville Ballet’s NB2 Trainee program.
She joins our long list of alumni who moved on to Monaco, Stuttgart, Moscow, Vienna - to pursue professional dance careers.

Emma’s dedication, artistry, and hard work have brought her to this wonderful milestone. It has been a privilege to watch her grow, and we cannot wait to see where her journey takes her next.

Meet our Summer Intensive Master Teachers
Registration 🔗 is in the Bio section

Zachary Leighton: I am a passionate educator who desires to challenge my students in technique while emphasizing the importance of performance. I am a certified personal trainer through NASM as well as a certified Progressing Ballet Technique instructor. I find it rewarding to have the skills to not only teach my students how to dance but also how to cross-train areas that may need further attention outside of the studio.

My charisma for the dance world extends to my co-workers where I actively seek to pursue relationships both inside and outside the studio that will enhance all aspects of daily life. I seek to listen, care, and give wherever I go.

As a performer I enjoy the characters I get to become on the stage. Drosselmeyer has been one of my favorite roles as a guest artist. It is always a pleasure to be in front of a live audience where the choreography comes to life. by @balletinstitutesd

Ballet is much more than steps and technique.
Students Maya and Athena presenting History of the French Ballet

At the Ballet Institute of San Diego, we encourage our students to explore that history by preparing and presenting short talks about great dancers, choreographers, and milestones in ballet. Researching, speaking, and sharing their discoveries helps them develop curiosity, confidence, communication skills, and a deeper appreciation for the art they practice every day.

When students understand where ballet comes from, they begin to see themselves as part of its continuing story.

We believe that great dancers don’t just train their bodies—they train their minds as well.
